Apple's new 7.87-inch iPad Mini
costs $329. This price was higher than most analysts expected. Tech bloggers and journalists were expecting a price in the $249 to $299 range, but Apple decided it did not want its lowest priced tablets to sell for less than $329. Thanks to Walmart's Black Friday deal you can get a larger 9.5-inch iPad 2 and a $75 gift card for $399. That makes the iPad 2 cost $324, if you subtract the value of the $75 gift card. Walmart has gauranteed
anyone in line between 10 pm and 11 pm on Thursday night, 11-22, will be able to get the iPad 2 deal, so availability won't be a problem. It's a good deal that is likely to get many people into Walmart stores on Thanksgiving night.
Neither the iPad 2 or iPad Mini feature Apple's new Retina display, so the screen quality is similar on both tablets. It would seem that bigger is better, but there are some who say the new size is better than the classic iPad size. John Gruber at Daring Fireball is reporting
that the iPad Mini is the best size for most people. If you plan on buying an iPad, you might want to try holding the new iPad Mini to see if John Gruber is right before you spend money on the iPad 2. You still have time before the Walmart sale.
