Twin Fishing Cats Born at Smithsonian's National Zoo

Twin Fishing Cats

Twin fishing cats (Prionailurus viverrinus) were recently born at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Their birth marks the first time fishing cats have successfully bred and produced young at the National Zoo. The adorable kittens will make their debut at the zoo later this summer.

Zoo Director Dennis Kelly says, "Many months of behavior watch, introductions and research allowed us to get to this point. It's very rewarding that our efforts have paid off. The future of their wild cousins hangs in the balance, so it's imperative that we do all we can to ensure their survival."
