Taken 2 Wins Weekend Box Office
Posted on October 8, 2012
Taken 2, starring Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, easily won the box office this weekend with a huge $50 million opening. This was more than double the weekend opening for Taken. Box Office Mojo reports that this was the third all-time biggest opening in October.
Taken 2 was followed by Hotel Transylvania, which made $26.3 million during its second week in theaters. Pitch Perfect finished third and made $14.7 million during its second weekend in theaters. Looper finished fourth and made $12.2 million.
Tim Burton's Frankenweenie did not perform well despite strong marketing. It finished fifth and made just $11.5 million. This is also despite great reviews for the film - an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
