Taken 2, Argo and Sinister Top Weekend Box Office

Taken 2 won the weekend box office for the second consecutive weekend. Taken 2 added $22.5 million to bring its total gross to nearly $87 million after two weekends. It won the weekend box office with its opening of $50 million.

It was a strong weekend for the box office with several films making $9 million or more.

Argo opened in second and made $20 million. The Ben Affleck directed and starred film is based on the true story of a hostage rescue in Iran. It has very good reviews. Argo was followed by the creepy horror movie, Sinister, which stars Ethan Hawke. Sinister made $18.25 million. Hotel Transylvania made another $17 million during its third weekend in theaters to push its total gross over the $100 million mark.

Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, opened in fifth and made $12 million. The comedy Pitch Perfect continues to perform well. It made another $9.3 million over the weekend. The weekend was not as good for the dark comedy Seven Psychopaths which opened in 9th and made $4.28 million. You can see the complete box office report here.
