White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs Dons Canadian Hockey Jersey

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs lost a bet with his Canadian counterpart over the hockey game at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. As a result of losing the bet Gibbs had to wear a Canadian hockey jersey at the daily briefing on Friday. Gibbs jersey number 39 is in honor of Ryan Miller, the U.S. team goalie and Buffalo Sabres star. Miller was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Gibbs also sent two cases of beer - one case of Molson and one Yuengling - to the prime minister of Canada. Take a look:

U.S. Wins 37 Medals at 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

The U.S. made Olympic history at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver with a record medal haul. The U.S. team won a total of 37 medals, including 9 gold medals. Canada beat the U.S. in gold medals by winning 17. The U.S. ski and snowboard team was especially strong this year. Bode Miller won three medals and Lindsey Vonn won two. Winter Olympics: Canada Defeats United States 3-2 in Men's Hockey

2010 Olympics Hockey PictogramThe United States came up short in its bid to win the gold medal in men's hockey at the Vancouver Olympics. The U.S. defeated by Canada 3-2 in an exciting overtime game. Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in OT for Canada.

Canadian coach Mike Babcock said, "To do it at home with these guys is special. Our guys did a great job and to win in overtime in Canada, it is a dream come true."

The U.S. team will take home the silver medal, which is still very good considering they were not expected to medal. Take a look:

Chile Athletes to Skip Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony

Chile's athletes and coaches are reportedly planning to skip the Olympic closing ceremony. The team is skipping the ceremony because of the massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile early this morning. Chile has three athletes at the Olympics game. All of them are downhill skiers. The Chile skiers have already learned that their families are safe. Take a look:

IOC to Investigate Canada Women's Hockey Team's Post Game Celebration

Canada defeated the U.S. to win the gold medal yesterday in women's hockey at the Vancouver Olympics. After their victory it was party time. Members of the Canadian women's hockey team came back out on to the ice to celebrate. They guzzled beer and champagne and smoked cigars. The IOC says it is going to investigate the team's actions. Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek's Figure Skating Costume Designed by Vera Wang

Evan Lysacek won a men's figure skating gold medal for the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Lysacek won wearing a black bodysuit designed by Vera Wang. The bodysuit included a silver jewel-encrusted snake.



Designer Vera Wang was at the Olympics. Vera Wang is a former figure skater and she says the 2010 Winter Olympics experience "was the Olympic moment" she never had.

Vera Wang told WWD, "It was just so exciting. The Olympics are something you can’t really convey on TV. The entire stadium was screaming. They were waving American flags in the stands. It was the Olympic moment I never had, by the way. But one I certainly aspired to. Olympic fever has a whole different energy. At the USA House, I got to hang out with skaters, ski jumpers and all different athletes. It’s so positive. It was kind of wonderful just to be there."

Ralph Lauren designed both the opening and closing ceremony uniforms for the U.S. team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The closing ceremony uniforms feature a merino wool blend cardigan, fleece white pants, a blue cap and Ralph Lauren's Olympic Games Denver Boots. The closing ceremony uniforms are in patriotic red, white and blue colors like the opening ceremony uniforms. U.S. Upsets Canada in Hockey 5-3

U.S. defeated Canada in men's hockey on Sunday in a stunning 5-3 upset. The amazing victory will advance the U.S. into the quarter finals. Great goaltending by the U.S. was seen as key to the U.S. upset. Canada is not completely out of the competition. They have to win a play-in game on Tuesday to get into the quarter finals. Bode Miller Finally Wins an Olympic Gold Medal

U.S. Olympic skier and proud father Bode Miller has finally won an Olympic gold medal. A terrific slalom run put Bode Miller ahead in the men's super combined event. This is Bode Miller's third medal at the Vancouver Olypmics. Bode Miller said, ""To execute the race the way I did today is something I will be proud of for the rest of my life." Take a look:

Roberto Coin's Olympics Inspired Jewelry Collection

Robert Coin Winter Olympics Collection


JCK Online reports that jeweler Roberto Coin created a collection inspired by the Winter Olypmics. The new pieces will be added to Coin's existing Tiny Treasures collection. The line features miniature sports equipment, including skates, skis, snowboards, and hockey sticks. The prices for the 18k gold pieces will range from $640 - $800.

Fashion is Johnny Weir's Next Dream

Johnny Weir has a second dream outside of skating and it's fashion. Yahoo Sports says Weir designed his own costumes for the short and free skate programs in Vancouver.

Johnny Weir says, "I am going to skate in the World Championships and then I have to decide how long I want to stay on vacation. In figure skating your body can only last for so long. I can’t be 50 and trying to skate but I can be 50 and be in fashion, so I have to look to my future and what I want to achieve."

Johnny Weir says he needs to go fashion school. He says he hopes he could become a world famous designer. Take a look:

Shaun White Repeats as Olympic Halfpipe Champion

2010 Olympics Shaun White Wins Gold


Shaun White, aka The Flying Tomato, won the gold at the Olympic Halfpipe competition yesterday. During his win Shaun performed his lastest and greatest trick, the Double McTwist 1260, which the New York Times describes as a "two-flip, three-and-a-half spin gyroscopic marvel." Shaun White also won the gold in Turin in 2006.

In an interview Shaun said he was hasn't been able to sleep at night because of all the pressure. He said, "I'm so happy it's over with." He also said he is happy to win for the United States and to make his parents proud.

Numerous Crashes on Women's Downhill

There were numerous crashes by Olympic skiers on the downhill today on Whistler. The course was described by some as "treacherous." Some skiers wiped out near the starting gate. The AFP says the crashes left some skiers needing medical treatment. The AP says the women only had one training run and this was the first time the women skiers were able to run the complete course. Olympic Cauldron Kept Behind Giant Security Fence

Some visitors to the Vancouver Olympics are upset that the Olympic cauldron is being kept behind a large chain fence inside a security peremiter. Olympic organizers say they are working on a plan to improve access to the cauldron. It looks like the cauldron is trapped inside a prison. Take a look:

Video: Evan Lycacek Talks Olympics, Medal Chances

The men's figure skating short program is tonight and we'll be rooting for the reigning world champion, Evan Lysacek. Evan is suffering from an injured left foot, and we really hope he lands all his jumps. He will be wearing a costume designed by Vera Wang. Evan talked to Brian Williams about the disadvantage of being the tallest guy on the rink, and how a hockey player ended up as the world's best figure skater. Take a look:
