Gisele Bundchen Covers Vogue

Gisele Bundchen April 2010 Vogue

Gisele Bundchen covers the April issue of Vogue. Gisele is already back in model shape just three months after giving birth to her son, Benjamin Rein. The photoshoot was shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier in a remote part of Costa Rica, where Gisele shares a getaway with her husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. In the interview, Gisele talked with Vogue about her pregnancy, her work and her new organic skincare line.

On Naming Her Son: "I wanted him to be called River because I wanted something always flowing, immortal. My husband said, 'There's no way we're going to call him River.' But my father's name is Reinoldo, so it's a homage to him. And it's like water."

On Weight Gained During Pregnancy: "I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds."

On Sejaa: "When I was a teenager, I had pimples-oh, God, every time someone looked at my face I thought they were looking at my pimples. I put mud on my face to dry them out, and it worked. "I can do all this because I'm financing it on my own terms, and if I want to give away 5 percent of everything I make, no one can tell me not to."

Miley Cyrus Covers April Issue of Teen Vogue

Miley Cyrus Teen Vogue

Miley Cyrus graces the cover of the April issue of Teen Vogue. The feature includes an interview with Miley and a photoshoot with Miley and her The Last Song co-star and boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth. Miley told Teen Vogue that she and Liam are "deeper than normal people."

On Meeting Liam: "He's really tall. I thought, Either I'm going to have to be in heels or standing on something for this entire movie! He definitely showed chivalry: I remember him opening the door for the director, and I was like, Wow."

On Her Music: "The more I make music that doesn't truly inspire me, the more I feel like I'm blending in with everyone else. So after this next album, I'm taking some time off."

On Her Relationship With Liam: "I think we're both deeper than normal people-what they think and how they feel. He's very grateful for what he has, but he doesn't let it go to his head. I'm like that too."

Here is a video of the Miley and Liam photoshoot. You can see the photographs here. Take a look:

Video: Behind the Scenes at Lady Gaga's Vogue Photoshoot

In this behind the scenes video we get to see the shooting of the Vogue December issues, which is devoted to the arts. Cate Blanchett is on the cover. One fabulous photoshoot is based on the story of Hansel and Gretel. The shoot was inspired by Richard Jones's production of the 1893 Engelbert Humperdinck opera, opening this month at the Metropolitan Opera. Lily Cole is Gretel, Andrew Garfield is Hansel and Lady Gaga is the witch.

Grace Coddington styled the shoot and Annie Leibovitz was the photographer. Grace said that it was actually Anna Wintour's idea to have Lady Gaga in the shoot. Grace and Annie said Gaga was so easy to work with: she even showed up naked under a raincoat with no makeup just so they would have a totally blank canvas to work on. Now what artist doesn't love that? Take a look:

You can see a slideshow of some of the fabulous photos here.

Claudia Schiffer and the Inappropriately Placed Broom

Claudia Schiffer Broom Vogue Germany

What in the world is happening to Claudia Schiffer in this German Vogue photoshoot? Have brooms become a new fashion statement? Maybe the broom is between her legs to indicate that she's a witch and is just having some trouble getting airborne. But nothing else about the photo says Halloween or supernatural.

The more we look at it, the more disturbing it is. If she didn't have such a serene look on her face it would have sexual violence overtones. But her expression and boring clothing makes it look like someone Photoshopped an inappropriately placed broom into the shot. The rest of the phoot shoot by photographer Erwin Wurm is also odd, but not as peculiar as this photograph.

Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and the Women of Nine Cover Vogue

Cover of November Vogue

Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson are on the cover of the November issue of Vogue magazine. The women are all starring in the film version of the hit musical Nine, which is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago). Also starring in the film are Fergie, Sophia Loren, and Judi Dench, with Daniel Day Lewis starring as the director whose life is complicated by all the women in it. Annie Leibovitz shot the cover, but there's something a little odd about it. Annie is known for her amazing composite photographs, but the photoshopping on this one is way off. But this photo, of all the women, looks much better:

Cast of Nine

Plum Sykes got to visit the set and you can read an excerpt of her piece in the issue here. We can't wait to see the film.

Anna Wintour Charms David Letterman

Photo of Anna Wintour on The David Letterman Show

Anna Wintour appeared on The David Letterman Show to promote the new documentary The September Issue. Anna looked absolutely fabulous in a slim cut, black and white Carolina Herrera dress. Dave grilled her about whether it's true that she's mean and not warm and cuddly. This entire line of approach to Anna Wintour is so revoltingly sexist. No one ever debates whether Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Warren Buffett is warm and cuddly enough. It's all about how competent they are in business. Anna is a brilliant business woman. She's professional and tough in a very cutthroat industry.

We thought she did a great job, especially considering that she doesn't do a lot of tv appearances. For example, Anna has a very funny response to Maureen Dowd's column about her this week and she good naturedly played along with Dave's jokes. She also poked fun at herself by walking out in her trademark dark sunglasses, then took them off for the interview. Take a look:

Report: Anna Wintour Still Embracing the Atkins Diet

Maureen Dowd takes on Anna Wintour in her latest column in The New York Times. Maureen went to the premiere of The September Issue and sat somewhat close to her at the after party. Naturally, she was quite interested in what Anna actually eats.
The Devil does wear Prada. I ended up sitting a stiletto's throw away from Anna Wintour at the Monkey Bar, after the Museum of Modern Art screening of the new documentary about her. Nuclear Wintour looked summery in a floaty print Prada dress so au courant it hasn't yet hit the stores.

Just like Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, Wintour can be seen in the new film clutching a Starbucks cup in her office and the back of her chauffeur-driven car. It seems to be her only sustenance, so I was curious to get the skinny on what the Skinny One eats.

"I'll have what she's having," I told a startled waiter, who assumed I was kidding and pointed me to the part of the menu he thought suited me better: Chasen's chili and Mrs. Carter's butter tart.

"Anna eats steak and burgers, protein, and drinks a little wine," said the Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley, mesmerizingly mountainous in a navy Armani with a white saber-toothed tiger tooth necklace and Manolo framboise velvet Woodstock sandals.
Maureen really fell short in her investigating. She should have grilled Andre as to what exactly Anna eats on her hamburgers. Lettuce? Tomatoes? A bun? Surely there is no cheese involved. Is it buffalo meat? Turkey meat? Angus? Kobe? We need details. One thing's for sure. Anna is still embracing the Atkins diet, or at least a modified version of it. But we'd still like to know about the bun.

New York Post Accuses Anna Wintour of Fiddling While Conde Nast Burns

The New York Post reports that Vogue has no plans on cutting back expenses for the annual trek to Paris Fashion Week. Struggling media giant Conde Nast is currently undergoing a brutal review by consulting firm McKinsey & Co., which is going to propose lots of cost-cutting and firings after it turns in its final report. No one is safe from the upcoming restructuring and cost-cutting and many perks at Conde Nast publications have been cut, from dinner expenses to catered lunches to bottled Fiji waters in the fridge.

With ad sales at Vogue down for the usually ad-heavy September issue and with McKinsey inquisitors roaming the halls looking for victims, one might think that Vogue would be at least trying appear cost-conscious. According to the Post, one would be wrong.
According to sources, Wintour's European entourage, which is usually about 10 people including her creative director, fashion director, several top stylists, European market editor, beauty editor and Publisher Tom Florio, is estimated to cost the company close to $250,000 in travel expenses. A source said Wintour stays at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, while underlings are sent to the Crillon and the George V.

What's more, there are afternoon teas in the Hemingway Room at the Ritz and expensive dinners at Caviar Kaspia. Younger staffers can enjoy meals at the bistro Benoit. Furthermore, most of the top staffers get chauffeured around Paris in brand-new Mercedes sedans that are booked for the entire week.

"Regarding the fall collections, our plans are precisely as they have always been," said a Vogue spokesman. Said one former Condé Nastie who has made the trek: "There are amazing dinners planned every night. All important Condés have a driver for the week, usually a new, black Mercedes."
The article goes on to snipe that Glenda Bailey, editor of Harper's Bazaar, stays at the artsy Hotel Montelambert on the Left Bank, instead of the Ritz and that this year Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive may move from the Ritz to somewhere else. The article accuses Anna, Leon Talley and the gang of living like emperors while Conde Nast drown in red ink, which is ridiculous.

First off, Anna Wintour does not eat, so there's no way her restaurant bill is in any way burdensome. Secondly, only Anna stays at the Ritz. Underlings are banished to lesser hotels. And thirdly, we don't believe for one minute that Vogue isn't cutting costs, regardless of what the PR people say. Anna Wintour is many things, but stupid isn't one of them.
