2010 Oscar Fashions: Tina Fey

Photos of Tina Fey

Tina Fey rebounded from her Golden Globes Zac Posen sartorial disaster with a stunning black, one-shoulder, sequined Michael Kors gown that really flattered her figure. Tina accessorized with an onyx and diamond ring and onyx and diamond drop earrings by Stephen Russell. She carried a clutch by Kotur and wore Jimmy Choo heels. This was a great night for Project Runway: Chris March designed Meryl Streep's gown and Michael Kors rescued Tina Fey from the Golden Globes worst dressed list. Well, he and the editors of Vogue, who styled Tina for the red carpet.

Tina Fey Ditches Zac Posen for the Oscars

Photo of Tina Fey

Remember the Zac Posen dress (pictured above) that Tina Fey wore to the Golden Globes? The one that landed her on E!'s Worst Dressed list? Well, after that fashion fiasco, Tina reportedly fired her stylist and canceled an order for an Oscar gown from Zac. Zac was overheard complaining about it during New York Fashion Week. Stylelist has the scoop:
"After the Golden Globes, she fired her stylist and canceled the dress she'd ordered from me for the Academy Awards," Posen was overheard saying during New York Fashion Week. And though he made himself out to be the victim in the matter, it was blown out of proportion. "There was no 'firing' nor was there a Zac Posen dress that had been lined up," Fey's rep Cara Tripicchio clarified to StyleList.

"I believe a very preliminary discussion was had between [stylist] Anna Bingemann and Zac about wanting to dress Tina again -- she wore his dress last year for the Oscars -- but it was too early to make any sort of commitment."
Tina had already committed to having Vogue style her for the Oscars: she is the March covergirl for the magazine, after all. Tina is participating in a feature for the magazine entitled "An Education: Tina Fey, Learning to Dress Like a Star," which we can't wait to read.

Tina Fey Wins Emmy for Portrayal of Sarah Palin

Tina Fey as Sarah Palin

Tina Fey won an Emmy at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys for her portrayal of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. It was her sixth Emmy award. Gold Derby says it is the fifth Emmy category that the talented Tina Fey has won in.

Tina Fey referenced Sarah Palin's surprise resignation as Governor of Alaska during her acceptance speech. She said, "Mrs. Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin."

The complete list of Creative Arts Emmy winners for 2009 can be found here. Creative Arts Primetime Emmys run a week ahead of the Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, September 20th.

2009 Oscars Red Carpet: Tina Fey

Photo of Tina Fey

Tina Fey looked stunning in her full-length beaded Zac Posen gown at the Oscars last night. She accessorized with diamonds from Fred Leighton. Tina presented the screenwriting awards with Steve Martin and they made a hilarious couple. Tina kept shooting Steve sidelong looks, prompting him to warn her "Don't fall in love with me." We heard Tina's voice in the writing for the skit: the jokes were quite funny.

John Hamm Meets Liz Lemon

Mad Men's John Hamm guest stars on 30 Rock as Liz Lemon's (Tina Fey's) new neighbor, Drew. In this short clip, she finally meets her neighbor for the first time, hoping that he's not some weirdo. He apologizes when he meets her, saying "I'm sorry I smell like frosting, but I love to bake." We love frosting. So does Liz, if her incoherent response is any indication: "I want to go to there." Take a look:

Tina Fey Strikes Back at Internet Critics in Globes Acceptance Speech

Tina Fey won a Golden Glob for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Musical or Comedy" for 30 Rock. In her hilarious acceptance speech, Tina shares her fondness for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and takes on her Internet critics.

By the way, those message board posters really exist: they post on the L.A. Times' Red Envelope blog, which just makes her comments even funnier. Here's the text of her acceptance speech:

"I want to say thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. I'll always love the Hollywood Foreign Press and have all the Hollywood Foreign Press action figures. Thank you, Will Arnett, for that joke. But I want you to really know how lucky I am to have the year I've had this year and, if you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet! You can find a lot of people there who don't like you! I'd like to address some of them now! BabsonLacrosse, you can suck it. DianeFan, you can suck it. Cougar Letter, you can really suck it 'cause you've been after me all year. And to my husband, Jeff, I love you. Thank you very much!"

Tina Fey's Vanity Fair Interview and Photoshoot

Tina Fey Vanity Fair Cover2008 has been a big year for Tina Fey. Her Sarah Palin impressions were seen by millions. She signed a $5 million book deal and her hilarious sitcom, 30 Rock, is a huge hit. Tina's also on the January 2009 cover of Vanity Fair. In the Vanity Fair interview she talked with Maureen Dowd about a number of topics including her Sarah Palin impersonations.
Two weeks after the appearance with Palin, Fey does another scorchingly funny Palin skit, this time with John McCain, a bit where Fey's Palin goes "rogue" and starts selling “Palin in 2012" T-shirts on QVC. "A man running for president of the United States onstage with a woman playing his running mate-isn't that a great moment in our country's history?," Lorne Michaels says in wonder as he leaves 30 Rock, wading through a throng of reporters, at 1:30 a.m.

Around the same time, Fey saw an entertainment reporter on TV say that Palin had been gracious toward Fey, but Fey hadn't been gracious toward Palin. "What made me super-mad about it," Fey says later, "was that it seemed very sexist toward me and her. The implication was that she's so fragile, which she is not. She's a strong woman. And then, also, it was sexist because, like, who would ever go on the news and say, 'Well, I thought it was sort of mean to Richard Nixon when Dan Aykroyd played him,' and 'That seemed awful mean to George Bush when Will Ferrell did it.’ And it's like, No, that's not the thing. This is a comedy sketch on a comedy show." "Mean," we agreed, was a word that tends to get used on women who do satirical humor and, as she says, "gay guys."
Here's a behind the scenes video of Tina Fey's photoshoot for the Vanity Fair cover. Tina Fey was photographed by Annie Leibovitz and styled by Michael Roberts.

Jennifer Aniston Guest Stars on 30 Rock

Jennifer Aniston plays a crazed stalker on 30 Rock. The episode airs on Tuesday, November 13, 2008 and it looks really funny. Jen's character Claire is stalking Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) and is having lots of conflict with Liz Lemon (Tina Fey). We love Jennifer Aniston -- she's so great at comedy. She's also looking quite fabulous in this scene.

SNL's QVC Skit With John McCain

Saturday Night Live had a hilarious skit last night starring Senator John McCain and Sarah Palin (played by Tina Fey) where they were selling products on QVC. They couldn't afford the big 30-minute informercial like Barack Obama so they had to settle for a slot on QVC. The catch was that they had to sell products while they were giving their campaign pitch. John McCain was very funny and Tina Fey was great as always. Take a look:

Will Ferrell is George Bush Again

Will Ferrell is heading to Broadway in a one man show in which he will recreate his impression of President George W. Bush. On Saturday Night Live tonight Will plays Bush trying his very best to give that national, primetime endorsement that John McCain and Sarah Palin have been longing for. Take a look:

Sarah Palin Opens Saturday Night Live

Here is the opening skit from Saturday Night Live last night, which featured Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Governor Sarah Palin and Mark Wahlberg. Alex mistakes Governor Palin for Tina Fey and rants about how awful "that woman" is until Lorne Michaels introduces him. He then morphs into his sleazy 30 Rock character saying she's "way hotter in person." She snaps back that his brother Stephen is her favorite Baldwin brother. Tina and Sarah never meet -- but do pass each other onstage.

Mark Wahlberg has been appearing on tv all week saying how furious he was about the SNL skit last week in which Andy Samberg pretended to be Wahlberg talking to animals. It was all a set up for him to come on the show this week to promote his new movie, Max Payne. The show broke all SNL ratings records for the last 14 years. Here's the opener:

Tina Fey Plays Sarah Palin Again

Tina Fey impersonated of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live last night. The look, the accent, the mannerisms...it's uncanny how much she sounds like the Alaska governor. Amy Poehler plays Katie Couric and the two recreate the infamous interview from last week in which Sarah Palin gave a less than stellar performance discussing foreign policy issues. The SNL skit mostly used the actual transcript of that interview, with some silly additions. The result is less than flattering: is it fair or unfair to Sarah Palin?
