Stella McCartney showed her 2010 Fall ready to wear collection during Paris Fashion Week. The show was held in the gorgeous grand foyer of the Palais Garnier opera house, where Stella had her first fashion show for Chloe years ago. Stella said that for this collection the Stella Girl was moving forward a bit. That translated into minimalist, perfectly cut separates and evening wear. There were her trademark slouchy sweaters and perfectly cut pants, as well as beautiful coats and floaty cocktail dresses. Stella says that ballgowns are not her cup of tea, so she provided lots of gorgeous alternatives. Take a look:
Kate Winslet was on trend at the BAFTAs tonight in a black gown by Stella McCartney that featured strategic cut outs with lace insets. On the red carpet, Kate talked about how much she loved the film Crazy Heart and the acting of its two leads, Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. She also had lots of praise for Carey Mulligan. "We're pleased and encouraged by the response to our first collection working with Stella," said Marka Hansen, President of Gap brand. We're thrilled to be working with Stella on a Spring collection."

Stella McCartney Collection for GapKids and BabyGap Arrives
Stella McCartney created a clothing collection for GapKids and BabyGap for fall 2009. Some of the items include leopard sweater tunics, sweater hoodies, band jackets, duck boots, tulle skirts, five pocket jeans, ribbed tights and duck boots. The collection arrived in stores this week. You can browse the collection here on Gap.com.
Stella McCartney said, "For years now I've wanted to create a collection for kids. It’s really exciting for us to do a boys and girls collection with Gap for the first time. I think it has a mix of the playful and practical. I tried to create a whole kids wardrobe. There are pieces that are classic and sort of timeless and hopefully very chic, mixed with more playful and a little bit cooler pieces. It’s a reflection of our brand and a great way to experience it."
Stella McCartney's Spring/Summer 2010 collection was a bit of a different direction for her. Stella said that she knew she wanted lots and lots of color in the collection and the results are feminine and fabulous. The romantic, ruffled dresses came in a variety of bright colors and different lengths. The fabrics were silk and chiffon, which were hand painted with roses and wisteria.
In the front row were Stella's father, Paul McCartney, author J.K. Rowling, Gwyneth Paltrow, Yasmin LeBon and Princess Caroline of Monaco. The entire feel of the show was upbeat and happy.
Stella's beautiful jackets, pants and blouses in silk shantung used a palette of neutrals, spiced up with some lovely cobalt blue. There was even some silk fuschia pants with a tangerine fitted bodice. It was all about family, said Stella, and the low-heeled cork shoes she showed are called the "Linda" style after her late mother, Linda McCartney. Take a loo:
Bono's Wife Suing Stella McCartney in Nude Dispute
Bono's wife, Allison Hewson, is suing
Stella McCartney over the use of the word "nude" in Stella's new perfume, Stella Nude. Allison and her business partner Bryan Meehan founded the organic food chain called Fresh and Wild. The Daily Mail reports:
Unfortunately, Ali and Bryan also have a company called Nude Skincare, with Helena Christensen among its devotees.
'Nude Skincare is suing for compensation, not because of anything to do with the scent of the perfume but because of branding and the use of the word "nude",' I am told.
'It would be quite funny if it wasn't being taken so seriously. There are other perfumes with similar names, after all.'
But the 'nude' idea, I am informed, is already a big part of Stella's fashion brand. She has already created a collection based on 'nude' flesh tones. Indeed, this summer, Stella's catwalk shows featured models in flesh tones from head to toe.
A writ has been issued, but Stella's company is hoping to settle the matter out of court. My spy behind the perfume counter tells me: 'Stella isn't likely to make any changes now because the fragrance is coming out in September and nudity is a big part of the perfume's "look". The bottle, for example, is a nude colour.'
The case will be heard this fall in the Chancery division which deals with copyright infringement claims. But surely they will settle this ridiculous case? The term "nude" is so common; there is no way the court is going to rule that Stella can't call her perfume Stella Nude. And on another note, we love Stella's fragrances and can't wait to sample Stella Nude.
Stella McCartney's Fall 2009 Campaign Features Bambi Characters
Stella McCartney Fall 2009 campaign includes many favorite Bambi characters. WWDsays the campaign was shot by photographer Ryan McGinley in the woods of Worcestershire, England.
"I'm a huge Bambi fan, and the film reminds me of my mum," said McCartney, referring to the late Linda McCartney. "And we wanted to have some fun. The clothes in the campaign are looking quite fierce, and we wanted to contrast them with the innocence of Bambi," she added.
Caroline Wozniacki is the New Face of Stella McCartney's Adidas Line
Stella McCartney has asked
Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki to be the new face for Stella's line for Adidas.
The 19-year-old up-and-comer, ranked ninth on the World Tennis Association tour, will kick off her new role at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadow, N.Y., which starts Aug. 31.
Wozniacki will play tournaments in Adidas by Stella McCartney apparel and footwear and will be featured in promotional and retail materials. Terms of the long-term deal weren't disclosed.
The Adidas by Stella McCartney tennis collection will arrive next month in stores such as Lane Bryant, Isetan, Harrods, Holt Renfrew and Nordstrom, as well as shopadidas.com and sports retailers worldwide. Prices include $175 for the Skynde shoe; $130 for the performance dress and $175 for the tennis image jacket. The tennis collection includes colorful Eighties-inspired skirts combined with feminine ruching and gathering, as well as tops with draped sleeves.
Launched in 2005, the Adidas by Stella McCartney collaboration consists of apparel, footwear and accessories for golf, running, gym dance, gym yoga, gym studio, tennis, swim and winter sports.
"For me, it is essential to wear products that combine performance and style," Wozniacki said. "I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is lightweight, stable and well-cushioned. With the Adidas by Stella McCartney tennis line, I feel like have everything any fashionable female tennis player always dreams about: cutting-edge Adidas technologies combined with Stella's unique designs that actually perform."
Stella said she picked Caroline to represent her brand "because she is an amazing tennis player with Stella attitude." Caroline will be involved with the line by giving input on the technical requirements for comfortable, high-performance tennis clothing.
Stella McCartney to Design Children's Clothing Line for the Gap
Marie Claire UK reports that Stella McCartney will be collaborating with the Gap on a line of children's clothes. Stella McCartney says a kids collection is something she has always wanted to do.
Speaking on her new endeavour, McCartney commented, 'For years now I've wanted to create a collection for kids... I believe that this one-off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand.'
Alluding that the credit crunch had been a factor in her choice of partner, she added, 'I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate.'
Stella's children's collection will hit BabyGap and GapKids stores in November.

Stella McCartney's fall ready to wear show in Paris was a star-studded event; attendees included Salma Hayek, Salma's new husband Francois-Henri Pinault (his company owns the Stella McCartney label), Kanye West, Pink, Beth Ditto, Twiggy and Stella's dad Paul, who attended with his girlfriend, American Nancy Shevell. Nancy was wearing one of Stella's dresses: unlike the dreadful Heather Mills, Nancy is Stella-approved.
Stella says she wears a lot of black and grey in the winter, but she does enjoy a pop of color which was evident in the lovely deep purple pieces. Stella also said that she enjoys showing some skin and the lingerie influence was evident in her black dresses with strategically placed lace cut outs. Her perfectly tailored boyfriend jackets and double breasted jackets with the extra long lapels are marvelous: she showed many jackets with skintight leggings. Stella won't use fur or leather, so the leather is faux and no animal died to make her "fur" coats. As always, she showed some killer boots and some lovely day dresses. Take a look:
Kate Moss is the new face for Stella McCartney's spring summer 2009 ad campaign. The ads were created by photographer Ryan McGinley. The campaign ads mix photography with watercolors by Dinos Chapman for a fun, bright look. We love it -- and the fab white suit.
Gwyneth Paltrow gives a revealing interview in the March issue of British Elle. Gwyneth talks about the state of her marriage, her love of fashion, the backlash against GOOP and why she's going to start smoking again when she's 70.
On the rumors her marriage is on the rocks: "It doesn't behoove us to be a public couple. He certainly doesn't want to be that. So it's just better if we don't -- I mean, we've never ever walked down a red carpet
together, we never will. If people think that that means we're not together, then -- ha ha ha! -- so be it."
About a recent Stella McCartney micro-mini skirted red carpet look: "People don't realise, sometimes you wear a dress because your friend made it. I just got out of sweatpants, out of mummy mode. I love fashion, but when you're breastfeeding and you're a stone-and-a-half overweight, it's demoralising to try to wear good clothes."
About the GOOP haters: "I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me. And, you know, for a second you lose perspective and your ego is so wounded. You think, how could people hate me or hate my intentions or what I'm trying to do? I'm a good person and I'm trying to put good things into the world. I am who I am. I can't pretend to be somebody who makes £15,000 a year. That would be completely inauthentic. I know what my intention is -- and if it [GOOP] makes one person's life better, then it's worth it. And f**k the haters!"
On her love of smoking: "The last cigarette I smoked was the day I found out I was pregnant with Apple. I'm so pissed off it gives you cancer. But then, once you have children, if you've witnessed a death like I did with my father, you just can't. But I've decided that when I'm about 70 I'm going to start smoking again. Why not? I can't wait!"
