Mel B and Geri react to The Spice Girls winning a Brit Award. The Spice Girl won the Brits Performance of 30 Years award for their 1997 performance of "Wannabe"/"Who Do You Think You Are." The singers were very excited and very grateful to their fans for the award. When told to get back together they said they never broke up and they "still love each other." Take a look:
NME reports that the Spice Girls are rumored to be the opening act for the 2012 Olympics in London.
The girl group's manager Simon Fuller said the time frame of the games would be perfect for a reunion to take place, adding that the band want to perform again before they are too old. "They will not want to be performing hits like 'Wannabe' in their 40s, but it's amazing how often people talk about another reunion. And I think if they do it, it's going to be in 2012," he explained.
The Spice Girls last tour was in 2007 and 2008 so that would make for a four year spread between tours. Wikipedia says the last tour for the Spice Girls was a success and grossed over $70 million. A performance at the 2012 Olympics could give a tour a big boost.
Spice Girls Liven up Roberto Cavalli Milan Menswear Show
Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C all showed up at Roberto Cavalli's Winter 2009 menswear show in Milan on Monday. The Spice Girls (looking gorgeous) wanted to thank him for designing their tour costumes. You can see menswear and some lovely jewel-toned gowns in the clip.
Roberto Cavalli Helps the Spice Girls Get Their Groove On
We love us some Spice Girls around here -- especially Posh. We also love Roberto Cavalli, so when you put them together the magic happens. Cavalli created the costumes for their worldwide tour and they are fabulous. He spent a great deal of time designing special looks for each of the performers (Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie B, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham) that would highlight her assets. And, of course, Victoria gets the best costume -- she looks like a bronzed Amazon. How she keeps from falling down those stairs in those heels, we will never know. Love the necklace. Love the bangles. We have to stop -- we're hyperventilating. A bit of trivia: We looked at this pic in super high-res and Victoria is just this close to showing something unseemly at the bustline, which is quite unlike her. Those metallic corsets are not easy to wear, as we all know.
The tour collection include rigorous white and black tuxedos, silver space-age uniforms, shiny minidresses embroidered with Swarovsky crystals and feathers, leather corsets and brightly colored jumpsuits.
Roberto Cavalli says "I have known Victoria Beckham for a long time, and have always admired her style and personality. When we talked about the worldwide tour 'The Return of the Spice Girls', she put forward the idea of me creating all their costumes to which I immediately agreed. At their debut, the Spice Girls generated a trend with their individual looks and now, 10 years later, they have put their trust in me to get a new, unique and iconic appeal for the tour. The Spice Girls are one of the biggest global success stories with their appeal crossing many generations and millions of fans awaiting their return. When I met them, I immediately understood the reason why the world went crazy for their unique brand of 'girl power' as they are an irresistible mix of energy, pure joy, humor and a spicy dash of glamour. I'm sure their strength will take us by storm again".
The tour kicked off on December 2 in Vancouver, and will be followed by over 30 dates across Europe and America. You can get a full list of the tour dates at thespicegirls.com. Then you can pay a fortune to get a ticket, because the tour is already sold out.
