Beyonce Tells Allure She Has Merged With Her Alter-Ego, Sasha Fierce
Beyonce covers the February issue of Allure. She's wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress and sequined leather booties by Cesar Paciotti. 2009 was a huge year for Beyonce. She enters 2010 with ten Grammy nominations and a signature fragrance, Heat, coming out in February. In the wide ranging Allure interview, Beyonce talked about styling her own hair, having children and songwriting. She also says she no longer needs her alter-ego Sasha Fierce.
On Sasha Fierce: "The thing that's interesting is I don't need Sasha Fierce anymore, because I've grown, and I'm now able to merge the two. I want people to see me. I want people to see who I am."
On Styling Her Own Hair: "I remember when I started doing my hair myself—I cut bangs, and I started curling my hair and pressing it, literally, with an iron. The girls from Destiny's Child, we would put our hair on the ironing board, and iron it, which is so crazy! My mom [who used to own a hair salon] was like, 'We have to get you out of your own hair, because you are destroying it!'"
On Having Children: "I definitely want to have a child," she says. "But I know from my nephew it's a lot. I hope that those things will just happen naturally. I still haven't had time to relax."
On Songwriting: "Probably the best songs I write are about relationships, and flipping the roles between women and men, and things that women go through. Growing up in a female group and in a hair salon, I have always been passionate about women. I just think we need each other, and the things that inspire me to write songs are things that I think women need to hear. I'm happy to be a voice, one of the many. I'm happy to be, in some way, a role model."

Beyonce and Tina Knowles Launch Sasha Fierce Clothing Line
Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles have designed a clothing line under Beyonce's stage name, Sasha Fierce. The Sasha Fierce for Dereon line is a junior clothing line that will be out in time to reach back to school shoppers.
WWDreports that Macy's, Dillard's, Jimmy Jazz and Against All Odds are stores that have already picked up the Sasha Fierce line.
The collection, which is inspired by Beyonce's stage presence (she is on a world tour through November), includes a full range of sportswear, outerwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear, lingerie and jewelry. Positioned to sit alongside the company's Dereon junior label, which is similarly priced, the line has so far been picked up by department stores including Macy's and Dillard's and specialty stores Jimmy Jazz and Against All Odds.
The collection, Tina said, is "edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce's daring and outgoing attitude."
The jewelry, shoes and eyewear, she added, "are really over the top" with large chains made in mixed metals such as silver with gold, heavily studded shoes and oversize sunglasses such as the ones Beyonce has been seen wearing on tour.
The Sasha Fierce for Dereon collection pays homage to the clothes that Thierry Mugler designed for Beyonce's tour. WWD says prices for the clothes will range from $25 to $75.
Here's the video for Beyonce's new single, "Ego." It's shot in black and white and features three girls dancing, just like the "Put a Ring On It" video. Beyonce looks amazing and she sure has got the moves. Take a look:

Beyonce says she has the time of her life on stage. She last did a concert tour in 2007. Beyonce says this concert tour is a "big production but it's also sometimes very emotional. I think it is going to be more emotional because in this album that portion was more real, raw and sensitive." Take a look:
Thierry Mugler Designs Fierce Costumes for Beyonce's World Tour
Thierry Mugler has designed some fierce costumes for Beyonce's upcoming world tour. They look very fitting for Beyonce's alter-ego Sasha Fierce. WWD says the spirit Mugler wanted to captures is the "duality between being a woman and a warrior."
Mugler understands Sasha Fierce's dual personality. He told WWD in an email that, "Sasha Fierce is another aspect of Beyonce's personality. She is Fierce on stage and Beyoncé in real life. I tried to understand these two sides with my own perception of both aspects."
Mugler is also the creative adviser for Beyonce's tour and he promises there will be lots of "dramatization and metamorphosis" on stage. You can find a list of Beyonce's tour dates here.
Ken made one appearance on the runway at the Barbie Fashion Show during Fashion Week wearing a Kenneth Cole design. But it won't be Kenneth Cole creating a Ken barbie. Elle.com reports that British designer Gareth Pugh is designing a Ken doll that will be unveiled in Paris. Beyonce has been wearing Pugh's designs lately to complete her Sasha Fierce look - see here, here, here and here. It will be interesting to see what Pugh does with Ken's look. (via Fashionista)
This fierce photo from the new Giant magazine layout pretty much says it all: even Sasha Fierce is not immune from the recession, as she was seen buying ramen noodles. Or maybe she just likes Ramen Noodles. Or is on a high-salt diet. In any event, we're pretty much loving the Sasha right now. Plus she has a groovy new black bionic hand. Perhaps they're interchangeable? Or each one has a different superpower?
You can see all the amazing photos by Ellen Von Unworth here.
Here's the video from the photoshoot.
Beyonce rocks a skin-tight catsuit as she performs in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City on Wednesday morning for Good Morning America. She's Sasha Fierce here, for sure. We kind of miss Justin Timberlake in heels as one of her backup dancers. Take a look:
Beyonce has released more promotional images for her upcoming album I Am Sasha Fierce. So what do we know about Beyonce's alter-ego Sasha, anyway? Well, she has a bionic hand. She loves wearing incredibly uncomfortable looking corsets made of metal. The photo on the right was taken just after Sasha won a fight with a biker gang. As the coup de grace, Sasha took her bionic hand and ripped away the front of the biker's Harley and made it into a new corset for herself. We love Sasha. She needs her own comic book, right now.
It looks like the Sasha Fierce thing is on. Beyonce appears as her alter ego Sasha Fierce in promotional photos for her new album, I Am...Sasha Fierce. As we noted earlier Beyonce also set up a MySpace account under Sasha Fierce. From studying the photos, we now know two things about Sasha: 1) she is part cyborg (check out the robot hand) and 2) she's hardcore into advanced yoga. We like the robot arm thing. As her career progresses, will more and more of her become robotized? Because that would be awesome.
Beyonce Knowles is calling herself Sasha Fierce for her upcoming album called I Am ... Sasha Fierce which will be released on November 18th. Beyonce says Sasha Fierce is her alter ego that takes over when she's on stage. Reuters compares Beyonce's new stage name to the Seinfeld epside where George wanted to be called T-Bone.
Just like the "Seinfeld" episode where George wanted everyone to call him "T-Bone," Beyonce Knowles would like to be known by a bold new name.
The R&B singer has christened herself "Sasha Fierce" for her new double album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," due in stores on Nov. 18, and has released a lengthy justification for the comical moniker.
"I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am," the former Destiny's Child frontwoman said in a statement.
"Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage."
Beyonce has also set up a MySpace page for Sasha Fierce at myspace.com/sashafierce so this appears to be something much more than an attempt at humor from Beyonce. The MySpace page has several photos including a tropical scene, a space scene with stars, a man walking his dog in the park and a couple photographs of Beyonce's robotic arm from her hot Single Ladies video.
The term "fierce" is known to many who watched Project Runway as it was spoken repeatedly by Christian Siriano. This is truly a strange move from Beyonce. She's a fierce star already and she certainly doesn't need gimmicks or a stage name. Country star Garth Brooks once created a rock star alter ego called Chris Gaines. It didn't work and many of his fans thought it was weird. More discussion of Sasha Fierce can be found here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
