Natalie Portman to Star in Pride and Prejudice Zombie Film
Varietyreports that Natalie Portman will star in and produce a film version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The film is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel that adds a zombie menace to the Jane Austen classic.
Though Austen's name is on the book, Grahame-Smith took the liberty of adding bloodthirsty flesh-eating zombies to the mix.
Portman will produce through her handsomecharlie shingle with Annette Savitch, plus Darko Films' Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm.
Described as an expanded version of the Austen classic, the book tells the timeless story of a woman's quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers
Natalie Portman will play the heroine Elizabeth Bennet in the Lionsgate film. It should make for an interesting film.
Natalie Portman covers the December issue of V magazine with a pompadour hairstyle and a fiercer look. The photos were taken by fashion photographer Mario Testino. In the interview, Natalie Portman talks about being a sexual object, privacy and aging.
On Sex Scenes in Films: "I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it's weird to be doing stuff on film as you're figuring it out. Also being a sexual object when you're a kid is really uncomfortable. After The Professional, I was already getting creepy letters. It's annoying because online bullshit interferes with what I want to do artistically. I'm not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I'm very opposed to pornography sites and you're pretty much giving them material if you do any of that. It's always a big dilemma for me."
On Social Media: "The formative time of my public image happened before there was Facebook, Twitter, all of those gossip sites. I had my own drunken nights and dating a million people, but there wasn't that attention then."
On Aging and Hollywood: "You see people who were stars five years ago and already they're waning. As actresses approach 40, it starts becoming really, really difficult."

Natalie Portman is adding another item to her resume: vegan shoe designer. The actress is currently working on a line of vegan shoes, which will be sold at Te Casan.
The Golden Globe-winning actress, and longtime vegetarian, has teamed with the New York label Té Casan to design her own line of vegan-friendly footwear, a collaboration that has aptly, if not predictably, been dubbed the Natalie Portman Collection.
Designs for the shoe line have yet to be revealed, save for one pair of red patent high-heeled Mary-Janes, which the 25-year-old sports on the chic label's Website.
As well as being made without animal ingredients—no fur, no leather, no feathers-5 percent of the range's profits will be donated to charity, which could quickly add up to a hefty sum.
While the kicks are decidedly critter friendly, they may be less kind to consumers' wallets, with each pair expected to retail for around $200. The Natalie Portmans won't officially be made available until February.
You can see the red Mary Janes from the line which are being worn by Natalie in the photo. But you'll have to wait until January 15th, 2008 to pre-order the other styles at Tecasan.com.
