Carrie Prejean Suing Miss California Pageant, Shanna Moakler
Former Miss California Carrie Prejean has filed suit in Los Angeles against Miss California USA officials, including former co-executive director Shanna Moakler, accusing them of religious discrimination. Carrie is claiming she was fired as Miss California because of her answer about gay marriage during the pageant. She is suing Shanna Moakler, but not Donald Trump which is interesting. Take a look:
E Onlinereports that clothing brand Sledge USA has dumped Carrie Prejean as spokesomdel for its Fall campaign. Sledge USA says this had nothing to with Prejean losing her title. They say she could not keep her appointments.
This time, she was axed by clothing brand Sledge USA. Prejean had been slated to be the spokesmodel for the line's upcoming fall campaign, but according to brand manager Vered Nisim, Prejean didn't hold up her end of the deal.
"She did not keep her appointments at all. She refused to confirm a time and date, even though we were on a very tight schedule," Nisim tells E! News, adding that "it had nothing to do with her being let go as Miss California."
Sledge USA's complaints sound somewhat similar to the complaints Donald Trump made when he fired Carrie Prejean as Miss California.
The new Miss California, Tami Farrell, appeared on The Today Show to talk about her new title and whether she'll be speaking her mind on subjects such as gay marriage. Keith Lewis, the executive director of the Miss California pageant reiterated that Carrie Prejean was fired for breach of contract, not for her views on gay marriage. Take a look:
Carrie Prejean Loses Her Miss California USA Crown
Miss California USA Carrie Prejean has now lost her crown. Donald Trump - who gave Prejean a second change last month - says he fired Carrie Prejean for failing to meet her contract obligations. Trump says, "I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen."
Carrie Prejean told TMZ that the news of her firing came as a surprise to her. She claims the Miss California USA organization wanted her to appear on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" and in Playboy.
Washington Whispers reports that Miss California Carrie Prejean will be hosting Fox & Friends 6 a.m.-to-7 a.m. est slot on May 27th. She's filling in for Gretchen Carlson who will be out that day.
The decision to make her a one-day cohost was finalized yesterday-the same day Prejean and Miss USA owner Donald Trump appeared on Fox & Friends.
Suzanne Scott, Fox vice president for programming, filled me in on the details of the gig for Prejean, who was thrust into the headlines when she rejected gay marriage during the Q&A part of the pageant. "We're just using her one time," she said, "to sit with the boys and have some fun." The boys are cohosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. "She has become a national celebrity in the last few weeks, and it's a fun thing to do," said Scott. "It's a good way to try get a little buzz and fun for the show. We'll see what happens with it," she added.
Donald Trump decided to let Carrie Prejean keep her Miss California title despite some topless photographs that appeared. Shanna Moakler, a co-executive director for the Miss California USA, resigned after the press conference where Donald Trump announced his decision. Shanna says, "The turning point for me, I guess, was when I was watching the Today show and she was sitting there continuing to lie. And it's obvious to everybody that the lying is still going on. I just couldn't stand behind her."
Miss California Carrie Prejean Will Keep Her Crown
CNN covered Donald Trump's press conference about Miss California Carrie Prejean's title live. Donald Trump has decided that Miss California Carrie Prejean will keep her crown despite the recent partially nude photos. Carrie Prejean followed Donald Trump's announcement with a statement of her own. She was very angry that photos of her were released. One of the questions asked during the press conference was whether Carrie thought the question Perez Hilton asked during the contest cost her the crown. Carrie Prejean and Donald Trump both said that judge #8 gave her very low marks.
Donald Trump decided to pass on the question of gay marriage. He also said he would love to have Perez Hilton back as a judge next year.
Update: Here's a video clip from the press conference.
Miss California USA Directors Criticize Carrie Prejean's Actions
Miss California USA co-executive directors Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler
say it is up to Donald Trump whether or not Miss California Carrie Prejean will lose her crown. The Miss California officials were critical of some of Carrie Prejean's actions but they also said a beauty queen should not be subjected to this type of scrutiny. Shanna Moakler said that Prejean entered the contest under false pretenses because she did not admit the photos were out there. Shanna said, "For us the severity of nudity in the one photo that Carrie Prejean has admitted was hers is not the issue. The fact that she entered the pageant and admitted it, is."
Topless Pictures May Derail Miss California's Career
Topless photos have surfaced of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, and Perez Hilton says that racier photos are on the way. Carrie put out a statement which seems to indicate that the photos are legit, and that could have severe consequences for the beauty queen. Her contract with Miss California forbids naked photos, so she could lose her crown. Matt Lauer looks into the story:
Jimmy Fallon Tries to Mediate Between Perez Hilton and Miss California
Jimmy Fallon decided to try to mediate the feud between Miss California (Carrie Prejean) and Perez Hilton. Carrie lost the Miss USA pageant because of her answer to Perez's question about gay marriage. Jimmy recruits two audience members to play Perez and Carrie as they try to find common ground. Miss California and Perez Hilton: the Controversy Continues
The Miss California/Perez Hilton controversy rages on. Both Perez and Miss California appeared on The Today Show today to speak their minds to Matt Lauer. Somehow we don't think they'll be going out to lunch anytime soon. Take a look:
Perez Hilton Asks Miss California About Gay Marriage
At the Miss USA pageant last night, Miss California got the hardest question of the night, hands down. Perez Hilton asked her if she thought same sex marriage should be legal. She clearly wasn't prepared for that one. Alas, she couldn't just reply "World Peace" to that one. She stumbled a bit, then comes up with her answer (she opposes it). Take a look:
So how would a politician who is trying to please everyone and not alienate any voters answer this question? During the election, Barack Obama said that although he opposed Proposition 8 (the gay marriage ban in California), he still does not support gay marriage. He said he believes civil unions are sufficient to protect the rights of gay Americans.
We think next year's questions should all be on hot button social issues. We like to watch them squirm as they try to come up with an answer that will please all the judges and lead to a win. And on a different topic, what was the deal with those earrings?
