Mimi is Officially Emancipated
Well, it's official: Mimi is offically emancipated. Mimi is, of course, Mariah Carey herself (it's the nickname her friends and family call her). Ms. Carey's new CD, The Emancipation of Mimi (Island/IDJMG) is headed towards first day sales of 350,000 units, landing it at #1 on the Billboard charts. This will be Mariah's first Number 1 album on the Billboard 200 since 1997 -- and her biggest opening week ever. After Glitter, the meltdown on TRL (she said the producers told her to act up) and the hospitalization for exhaustion, Mimi appears rested and ready to go. The buzz on the album is good.
