Behind the Scenes at Justin Timberlake's Givenchy Photoshoot

Photo of Justin Timberlake

Givenchy has put up a behind the scenes video of Justin Timberlake's photoshoot for Givenchy's new fragrance Play. You can see the video here. Justin told People magazine
So what smells good to the sexy star? "The greatest scents in the world are pheromones," he confides. "Just the actual smell of a person’s skin." But that doesn't mean that he hasn't worn his own fair share of fragrances. "I was 13 or something. I thought [Polo fragrance] was cool. I remember when [ck One] was, like, a big deal.

Everybody from my school smelled exactly the same." No more generic scents for Timberlake, though. Although the Givenchy's scents don’t bear JT's name, he admits to having a hand in creating the scent. "I think the way we did [it] was kind of cool," he says, "because [I got ] to pick notes. I'm not a scientist, I won't be in there doing the chemistry or mixing the chemicals, [but] I really enjoyed the process of working with Givenchy and getting involved in the actual fragrance. It means more to you. It feels more personal. I actually wear it," he says.
Justin says that girlfriend Jessica Biel compliments him when he wears the fragrance. But he says that sometimes he likes his own "funk smell."

Cadillac Launching a Men's Fragrance

GM Cadillac Fragrance

Cadillac is launching a men's fragrance for its 100th anniversary. Notes in the fragrance include grapefruit, camomile, geranium, tarragon and cinnamon. The fragrance also includes sweet spice and incense.

The Star reports that Cadillac fragrance is part of men's line being launched this fall.
Beauty Contact Inc., a Dubai-based cosmetic company and holder of the fragrance licence, said yesterday it will launch the Cadillac line in stores this fall to mark the brand's 100th anniversary.

"Cadillac, the new fragrance for men is part of the recent Cadillac renaissance: Hot new products and redesigns that capture the mantra of life, liberty and the pursuit," said Alwyn Stephen, a Beauty Contact director.

"Our fragrance is a relevant extension of the Cadillac lifestyle."

The line includes a spray, aftershave lotion, deodorant stick, hair and body wash. Some products will come in translucent glass bottles with sleek metal caps. The retail price for a 100 millilitre bottle of the eau de toilette fragrance will be $73.
There are going to be a lot of people asking, so this is what the bailout was for? It is good the fragrance does not have the new car smell because that smell is reportedly dangerous.

Calvin Klein to Launch CK Free in September

Photo of CK Free ad

Calvin Klein is preparing the launch of CK Free, its new men's fragrance. The campaign will kick off in September, and the fashion design house has high hopes for the new addition to its stable of fragrances. It expects to do around $100 million in sales globally the first year.
"The Calvin Klein house is our largest and most global brand in the company," said Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American Fragrances for Coty Prestige. "And within it, the CK franchise speaks to a casual, relaxed attitude. CK Free has been created to offer men an everyday escape away from the daily grind regardless of their age, ethnicity or social status. It's very democratic."

*****

Traditionally, CK fragrances have been even stronger in global markets than in the U.S. — but with CK Free, the company is also hoping for a home run in the U.S. "This scent is about casual, everyday living — and living life without boundaries," said Charlotta Perlangeli, global vice president of marketing for Calvin Klein Fragrances at Coty Prestige. "We think that is a message that will resonate both in the U.S. and abroad."

The woody aromatic scent, concocted by Givaudan, has top notes of Thailand star anise, jackfruit, absinthe and juniper berry; a heart of suede, tobacco leaves, coffee absolute and South African buchu, and a drydown of patchouli absolute, oakwood, Texan cedarwood and Costa Rican ironwood.

The collection consists of eaux de toilette in three sizes — 1 oz. for $32, 1.7 oz. for $47 and 3.4 oz. for $62 — as well as a 5-oz. aftershave balm, at $42, and a 2.5 oz. deodorant stick for $16. The bottle, a beveled rectangle, is edged in blue — intended to evoke the shades of the ocean and the sky, said Perlangeli.
The ads will star Jamie Dornan, who will also appear in ads for the firm's underwear and jeans lines this fall. The ads will feature Jamie in a vintage car and photos of the bottle with a desert sunset behind it.

Ewan MacGregor Has an Adventure

Photo of Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor is now back from his round the world motorcycle trip and is busy promoting his new cologne for Davidoff called Adventure. Adventure "explores uncharted fragrance territory. Its fresh spicy woody composition is daring and elemental, inspired by the world's great wildernesses and raw, masculine emotion."

We don't know what the copywriter was imbibing at the time he or she wrote this, but smelling like "raw, masculine emotion" is not something we want our guys to smell like. It just sounds so...sweaty? Locker-roomy? Like he's been on a motorcycle trip around the world for months and months without showering? Something like that. However, we're all for the "daring and elemental" and, of course, the Ewan McGregor parts of the ad.
