Iron Chef heads to the White House for a special battle. Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse battle Bobby Flay and White House chef Cristeta Comerford. Michelle Obama participates in the battle, but the secret ingredient is still a secret. From the preview it looks like they will have to use items from the White House garden. It airs on the Food Network on January 3. Take a look:
Gwyneth Paltrow appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show today and talked about her trip to Spain with chef Mario Batali, which will be a documentary aired on PBS. They ate their way through Spain, she said. She also talked about losing her post-baby weight:
Gwyneth says she wants people to know she had to work her butt off—literally—to achieve her weight loss goals. She also credits the person she calls her pint-size miracle, trainer Tracy Anderson. "She's the exercise genius of all time," Gwyneth says. "She developed this system of kind of doing dance aerobics so that you're not doing anything repetitive."
After meeting Tracy in Los Angeles, Gwyneth recommended her methods to her good friend, Madonna. Using cardio dance routines and resistance training, Tracy has helped both women transform their bodies. "She makes everything small," Gwyneth says. "She wants women to be long and lean and defined."
Most days, Gwyneth works out with Tracy at her home gym, but when she's traveling, she says she won't leave home without Tracy's exercise DVDs. "I do those DVDs whenever I travel," she says. "She completely changed my body."

Crocs has announced that super-Chef and bestselling author Mario Batali will be the new spokesperson for the new Crocs Bistro shoe.
"Crocs is very excited to announce the partnership with celebrity chef Mario Batali and the new Bistro shoe model," said Ron Snyder, CEO of Crocs. "Mario has been a long-time fan and a visible supporter of Crocs shoes, and his endorsement further validates the benefits of Crocs shoes for the restaurant and food service industry."
"It's not hard to see that I'm a supporter of Crocs, given that I wear them on a daily basis. The new Bistro model brings functionality for the kitchen to the equation producing a product that I am happy to support," said Batali.
Chef Batali says he owns a mind-boggling 50 pairs of Beach Crocs. Batali is totally into this new promotion: he's going on appearances for the company and is posting some of his fabulous recipes on Crocs.com. Now that we think of it, Batali probably does need 50 pairs of Crocs. The man is amazing: when he's not slicing and dicing other chefs on the Food Network's show Iron Chef America, he hosts his own series called "Molto Mario." He's written five cookbooks and now owns 11 restaurants in New York City, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
So, what's so great about the new Crocs? The new shoe is made for people who stand on their feet all day, like restaurant workers and nurses. The shoes have a closed toe, a special slip-resistant design, a thicker metatarsal area to help protect the top of the foot, as well as a supportive arch and foot bed circulation nubs to keep one's tootsies happy all day long.
The Bistro will retail for $39.99 and will be available in Mario Batali's signature orange color, as well as in black, chocolate, navy, red, and white. It will hit stores in late summer, 2007. We, ourselves, are not feeling the orange color vibe at all (we look terrible in orange) but do feel that the red or navy would work. And be comfy, of course.
