Brad Paisley: Justin Timberlake Sends Me Jeans

Brad Paisley

Country star Brad Paisley is up for 7 CMA nominations this year. He is also co-hosting the show with Carrie Underwood. A CNN story and interview with the singer says Brad Paisley has become so famous that Justin Timberlake is now sending him William Rast designer jeans to wear.
But perhaps the most telling sign his popularity has transcended genre is that Justin Timberlake sends him samples from his William Rast designer jeans line.

"He actually called me to thank me for wearing them the other day, which was crazy," says the 36-year-old musician.
Brad Paisley also explained why he wears the cowboy hat.
It's about the image, and it's about the lifestyle and what I want to sing about. It's not like someone's going to mistake me when they turn on "Conan O'Brien" tonight, you know what I mean? It's not like, "Wonder what kind of music he sings." Instantly, when you turn it on, you know.
When asked by CNN about being Mr. Perfect, Brad Paisley insists he is not and pointed to his Twitter account, @paisleyofficial, where you can find his latest typos.

William Rast Launching Global Expansion

Justin Timberlake's fashion line William Rast is expanding globally. The line was founded by Justin and his friend Trace Ayala and features sportswear and denim. Three stores opened in California on November 1st and the company is planning a rollout of up to 50 units by 2012.

The company's strategy is quite interesting. It's expanding during the recession in order to lock up leases in upscale malls at bargain basement prices. The company is avoiding high profile streets such as Melrose in Los Angeles and stand-alone stores. The company wants the walk-in traffic that upscale malls provide. The expansion is being overseen by Colin Dyne, the CEO of People's Liberation, the L.A. based company that runs the operations of Rast, as well as of its own brand and of J. Lindeberg. WWD reports:
Unlike denim competitors who have raised their retail flags on high-profile streets such as Robertson Boulevard and Melrose Place in Los Angeles, William Rast opted for shopping malls. Dyne said he will step outside of the mall in cities such as New York, where the company is considering a spot in SoHo near the J. Lindeberg store on Spring Street.

*****

Working with the Los Angeles-based architecture firm Johnston Marklee, William Rast transported the rugged Americana found in Timberlake and Ayala's home state of Tennessee to Tinseltown for an aesthetic dubbed New America. In the 1,850-square-foot store in Century City, the design offsets matte black shelves filled with jeans retailing for $165 to $245 with wide planks of plywood, which were seamed together to create high tables and an angular arch stretching above shoppers' heads. Vintage dress forms show off the $350 men's houndstooth blazer, $229 women's jean jacket and $250 vest dotted with grommets.

*****

Booming through the stereo speakers is a mix of rock and blues tunes that Timberlake compiled for the soundtracks played during the brand's fashion shows. In addition, Timberlake can be seen taking a bow at the end of the fall 2009 runway show playing on a TV screen in the store. Other than that, there's no visible sign of Timberlake in the store. It's a deliberate move to distance William Rast from the cult of personality that often swarms -- and sometimes detracts from -- a celebrity brand. "We've always made sure that it's about the product first," Dyne said. "We use Justin in the right ways. He was in our first ad campaign and he’ll be in our next ad campaign."
Johan and Marcella Lindeberg have gotten excellent reviews in their tenure as chief designers for the line. They are launching a more upscale line of their own again (they were the founders of J. Lindeberg) in the fall of 2010. Presumably they will continue to design for William Rast, as well.

Justin Timberlake, Anna Wintour Celebrate Fashion Night's Out at Saks

Saks Fifth Avenue

Pictured above are Melanie Oudin, Justin Timberlake, Anna Wintour and Steve Sadove celebrating Fashion's Night Out at Saks Fifth Avenue last night in New York City. 50 designers made appearances at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship for the event. Some of the designers attending included Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Elie Tahari, Bobbi Brown and William Rast's Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake. Saks says it completely sold out of the Fashion's Night Out t-shirts that benefit National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center in just two hours.

Saks Fifth Avenue Chairman and CEO Steve Sadove noted, "Saks Fifth Avenue was proud to participate in Fashion's Night Out. Our customers had the opportunity to interact one-on-one with designers throughout the store - whether it was previewing the William Rast collection with Trace Ayala and Justin Timberlake, watching magic tricks with Carolina Herrera or learning make up tips from Bobbi Brown. Saks Fifth Avenue has always been about the excitement of fashion and Fashion's Night Out gave us one more reason to celebrate."

Behind the Scenes at Justin Timberlake's Givenchy Photoshoot

Photo of Justin Timberlake

Givenchy has put up a behind the scenes video of Justin Timberlake's photoshoot for Givenchy's new fragrance Play. You can see the video here. Justin told People magazine
So what smells good to the sexy star? "The greatest scents in the world are pheromones," he confides. "Just the actual smell of a person’s skin." But that doesn't mean that he hasn't worn his own fair share of fragrances. "I was 13 or something. I thought [Polo fragrance] was cool. I remember when [ck One] was, like, a big deal.

Everybody from my school smelled exactly the same." No more generic scents for Timberlake, though. Although the Givenchy's scents don’t bear JT's name, he admits to having a hand in creating the scent. "I think the way we did [it] was kind of cool," he says, "because [I got ] to pick notes. I'm not a scientist, I won't be in there doing the chemistry or mixing the chemicals, [but] I really enjoyed the process of working with Givenchy and getting involved in the actual fragrance. It means more to you. It feels more personal. I actually wear it," he says.
Justin says that girlfriend Jessica Biel compliments him when he wears the fragrance. But he says that sometimes he likes his own "funk smell."

Justin Timberlake's Eco-friendly Golf Course Opens Tomorrow

Mirimichi Golf Course

Justin Timberlake GolfingLiveScience.com reports that Justin Timberlake's eco-friendly golf course called Mirimichi is opening tomorrow in Memphis, Tennessee. Mirimichi means "place of happy retreat." The golf course is the first golf course to receive the Audubon International's Classic Sanctuary certification.
Originally called Woodstock Hills, the golf course is older and was actually the first place golf-enthusiast Timberlake learned to hit a golf ball.

"...Last year we found out they were going to auction it off and turn it into a development," Timberlake told PGATour.com. "So we thought it was such a landmark for the community, we'd scoop it and save it. And we did. We were able to before it was auctioned off."

Renamed Mirimichi Golf Course, Timberlake's newest venture is the first project in the U.S. to receive the Audubon International's Classic Sanctuary certification.
Some of the green features on the golf course include irrigation systems that maximize the use of rainwater, native landscaping and solar-powered electric golf carts. Mirimichi also implemented sustainable resource management principles that incorporate wildlife conservation and habitat rehabilitation. The Audubon International certification requires a yearly audit to ensure the Mirimichi golf course continues to implement natural resource management principles.

Justin Timberlake is also considering writing a book about golf. He also has an endorsement deal with Callaway Golf.

"I know he'll be really handsome. And he'll be a millionaire...from popular songs...like 'Cry Me A River'... I'd like to think that at first, he'll date a popular female singer. Publicly, they'll claim to be virgins. But privately, he hit it....Then, he'll make love with women so beautiful and so often that it won't be enough for him and he'll, I don't know, try some stuff with guys. I mean, he'll be straight! Justin Timberlake's Reality Show Full of Explosions and Plot Twists

The Phone MTVJustin Timberlake has a new reality tv show for MTV called The Phone. The game begins when a caller receives a phone call asking them to "press one" if they'd like the chance to win $50,000. Once they press one the game begins. The show is billed as an intense reality tv show. Justin Timberlake says that in one episode after a contestant accepts the challenge, a voice on the phone says, "The game starts now," and then a car explodes in the parking lot.
"'The Phone' is a high-intensity game show where we take four real-life people, not actors, we take four real-life people, and we thrust them into physical and mental nightmare," Timberlake said. "And you get to watch what happens. There's a chance every show to win 50 grand."

The show features people answering a phone call and then having to go through intense missions to win the game and the money. "We plot each show around a movie plot," Timberlake added. "And they become the main character in this movie."
It would be interesting to know how they screened contestants for a reality tv show like this one. Here's a trailer for The Phone.

GQ: Justin Timberlake is America's Most Stylish Man

GQ Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake was named the most stylish man in America by GQ. He's also on the cover of the latest issue of the magazine. GQ explains why Justin is number one on its list.
All the while, there's chatter about fedoras and three-piece suits and his clothing line William Rast-and why we included Timberlake on our list in the first place: not because of some effortless way he dresses or comports himself but because of the way he works at his style. Timberlake has a knack for targeting trends just before they crest. He might not spark them, but he's the guy who broadcasts them-whom we point to for making, say, hats popular again, or for making suits look like they were meant to be worn with sneakers, or for wearing a beard that's not quite a beard per se but is pretty much what every guy at the club wears these days.

His impact is undeniable, as is his willingness to take risks. He's the guy who rocks the sweater vest off the course ("definitely-but not argyle; a solid-color one, usually with a T-shirt underneath"); the tie with a leather jacket ("but a really good leather jacket—really sleek and clean looking").
Here's the list of GQ's top ten most stylish men.

GQ's Ten Most Stylish Men in America
  1. Justin Timberlake, actor
  2. Mark Ronson, DJ
  3. Alexi Lubomirski, photographer
  4. Andre Balazs, hotelier, scene Magnet
  5. Kanye West, hip-hop musician
  6. Sid Mashburn, haberdasher
  7. T.I., MC
  8. Glenn O'Brien, GQ's style guy
  9. Jason Schwartzman, actor
  10. Ed Ruscha, artist
