Video: Nick Jonas Performs Live at Critics' Choice Awards
Nick Jonas and the Administration perform live during the red carpet segment of The Critics' Choice Awards last night on VH-1. Nick sounds great, singing "Who I Am":
Jonas Brothers Cancel Zurich Concert Because Nick Jonas is Sick
The Jonas Brothers took to Twitter to announce the cancellation of a concert. Nick Jonas is sick with an "upper respiratory infection."
We are sad to announce the cancellation of the Jonas Brothers concert for this evening in Zurich. Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is ill with an upper respiratory infection of the nose and throat and the doctor has advised that he not speak or sing. This is the first time that the Jonas Brothers have ever cancelled a show for sickness and deeply regret that they will not be able to perform as a group tonight.
The band, the management, and the promoter apologize that the show must be cancelled on such short notice. We will do everything we can to revisit Zurich in the future and perform for our wonderful fans. Tickets can be refunded as of Monday, 9 November until 31 December 2009 at the presale agency.
No celebrity will admit to having the swine flu anymore. It's always "a respiratory infection" or "another flu virus." Clearly publicists have decided that swine flu is a PR no no. But swine flu is the predominant virus circulating now according to the CDC.
The Jonas Brothers love to bounce. With a little help from Demi Lovato and Big Rob, the brothers decide to go back in time and kick it old school. It's pretty funny; take a look:
Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas pose with personalized Philadelphia 76ers jerseys at the Wachovia Center Saturday. The Jonas Brothers were in town to perform two gigs at the Wachovia Center last week. Jordin Sparks opened for the trio and got good reviews. But the Philadelphia Inquirer wasn't impressed with the show, accusing Nick Jonas of being grumpy and grunting his songs, and saying that the trio sounded strained.
The Jonas Brothers' music may go down easy, but they sure try to make it look hard, straining each syllable as if they're simultaneously singing and lifting weights. Their cover of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" placed them in a long line of gratuitous oversingers.
Sixteen-year-old Nick was the worst offender, both in terms of his vocals and his sullen moue. Even the spoken interlude in "A Little Bit Longer" was delivered as a guttural grunt. No doubt a few hearts broke as Nick described the diabetes diagnosis that inspired the song, but his monologue might have been more moving had it not been nearly word-for-word the same as the one he delivered at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden last August.
We're sure the fans in the audience completely disagreed.
Russell Brand Returns to Host 2009 MTV Video Music Awards
British comedian Russell Brand returns to host the MTV VMAs this year.
Following the epically outrageous 2009 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, MTV is bringing the celeb-powered, anything-might-happen craziness back to New York for the 26th annual MTV Video Music Awards on September 13 at 9 p.m. ET. For the second year in a row, comedian Russell Brand will host the live show, taking place at some of the city's most iconic locations, including Radio City Music Hall.
"This year will be a controversy-free festival of love and discrete orgasms," said the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star, who stirred plenty of controversy as host last year when he joked about the Jonas Brothers' purity rings.
"We are thrilled that despite numerous death threats from Jonas Brothers fans, Russell Brand has accepted our offer to put his life on the line and host the VMAs again this year," said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV. "We're also excited to be coming home to bring the most rambunctious night in music back to New York City."
The Jonas Brother downplayed Brand's jokes about their promise rings last year. All the Jonas Brother's said was they thought Russell Brand needs a young. It will be interesting to see who Russell Brand mocks this year.
Two of this year's performers that have been named include Taylor Swift and Muse. The VMAs will be held at New York City's Radio City Music Hall this year. The show will be broadcast September 13th at 9 p.m. ET.
Kevin Jonas, the oldest member of The Jonas Brothers, recently to his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa, 21, who he has been dating for two years. Kevin Jonas turned to Jacob & Co. for the engagement ring. He worked closely with the jeweler to create the ring. The future Mrs. Jonas' Jacob & Co. ring is crafted in platinum and features a solitaire cushion-cut diamond, with a total weight of 3 carats. Surrounding the center stone are 210 round brilliant-cut pave diamonds totaling .72 carats.
One Jonas Brother down, two more to go: Kevin Jonas is engaged to be married.
Kevin is engaged to Danielle Deleasa, 21, who he has been dating for two years.
Deleasa, 22, met Kevin—the JoBro who has managed to have a private life—in May 2007 while their families were vacationing in the Bahamas.
"Our hearts are filled with joy today and we are happy to share with you that our son Kevin has asked Danielle for her hand in marriage," parents Denise and Kevin Jonas Sr. said in a statement. "Her answer was yes, and it is such a blessing that she will be joining our family. Kevin and Danielle have not yet set a date."
A rep for Kevin confirmed that he showed up at Deleasa's New Jersey home this morning with a ring he codesigned with Jacob & Co., and popped the question at her doorstep.
But while thousands of girls would love to be in Deleasa's shoes—or at least also in a position to attend a wedding where Joe and Nick Jonas will be—the former hairdresser tells People she didn't know who Kevin was when she first met him.
Way to play coy, honey.
This definitely has a Hanson vibe about it. Why get married so young? In any event, we wish them all the best.
Nick Jonas testified in front of the Senate Homeland and Government Affairs Committee about increasing funding for diabetes research. Nick was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 13 years old and he shares the story of his diagnosis and continuing treatment. Nick monitors his diet and does the needle stick twelve times a day to check his glucose levels. He uses a pump to self-administer insulin every day (he found the shots too difficult to self-administer). Nick especially thanked Senator Collins for her support for juvenile diabetes research. He is poised and confident: he did a great job. Take a look:
The Jonas Brothers Perform Paranoid on The Today Show
The Jonas Brothers performed their hit "Paranoid" on The Today Show. For some reason hard-hitting political reporter David Gregory was with Meredith Vieira and was doing the interview. He was pretty intense, but nice. We admit that we were expecting him to grill them about their opinions on the disputed Iranian presidential elections, but somehow he managed to restrain himself. Take a look:
Clearly Joe Jonas lost some kind of bet to his brothers who forced him to go to a very scary place in this video which redefines humiliating videos. To promote the Jonas Brothers' new album, Joe dons a black leotard and pumps and reenacts Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Let's just say, he's no Justin Timberlake. And the sooner he seeks the help of an experienced dance instructor, the better. Still, props to him for not caring about looking cool. No doubt Beyonce will hurt herself laughing when she sees it. Note: he looks absolutely exhausted by the end of his interpretive dance session. Take a look:
Jonas Brothers and Mom Featured in Good Housekeeping
The Jonas Brothers are featured in the July issue of Good Housekeeping with their mother, Denise Jonas. Denise tries to keep the boys in line and teaches them to stay humble but she says she's not going to hate them if they make a mistake.
"She makes us be careful in the hotel room," admits 17-year-old Nick of his mother's etiquette rules. "[She makes us] put back the towels, straighten the bed."
But Mom is smart enough to know that boys will be boys, and that they won't be able to keep their pure images forever. "They are men. They have desires," she confesses, even though each of her boys wears a chastity ring. "They have testosterone. If they make a mistake, I'm not going to hate them. I don't think they are above or below being seduced. I would be foolish if I thought that. I pray for them."
Here's a video clip of Jonas Brothers photo shoot with Denise Jonas. You can read the feature, called How to Raise Rock Stars, here on GoodHousekeeping.com.
The Jonas Brothers have debuted their latest music video. The music video for "Paranoid" shows the Jonas Brothers having to deal with multiple versions of Kevin Jonas and wrestlers. To quote Entertainment Weekly the video "makes no sense, but their hair sure does look nice." Take a look:
Jonas Brothers Postpone Mexico Concerts Because of Swine Flu
andPop reports that the Jonas Brothers have pushed back concert dates at the Arena Monterrey in Mexico. The concerts were expected to be this week but will be pushed back to July because of H1N1 swine flu concerns.
The pop trio's shows are being postponed "due to health precautions in the whole country as a consequence of the outbreak of the A(H1N1) flu," read a statement on the venue's ticketing website.
The group was scheduled to play an afternoon and an evening concert on May 17. The shows have been rescheduled for July 31, and tickets will be honoured for their original times (3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.).
"We know the situation is stabilizing and that many fans travel long distances to live the experience of seeing a Jonas Brothers concert," read the statement. "That is why we hope that your experience and your enjoyment of the concert will be as pleasant as possible."
There are going to be some dissapointed in fans in Mexico. Hopefully, they will be able to attend the resecheduled concerts. The Jonas Brothers website can be found here.
The Jonas Brothers showed off their new album cover art on Twitter. The name of the album is Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The album will be in stores June 15th. The Jonas Brothers tweeted, "Check out our Brand New ALBUM COVER!!!! -Lines, Vines and Trying Times- So excited for you all to see it!"
Miley Cyrus will have to team up
with her ex, Nick Jonas, for a new Disney song. The recording session is for a song called "Pass it On" which is like Disney's version of "We Are the World." That could be a bit awkward.
Fellow Jonases Joe and Kevin are also among those on board for the track, which is being recorded later this week. The tune was penned by Adam Anders and Nikki Hassman, who wrote Cyrus' Hannah Montana hit "Hoedown Throwdown."
Cyrus, the JoBros and other Disney musicmakers will shoot the "Pass It On" video on Saturday.
As for those tabloid reports of a simmering feud between Miley and Nick?
"We don't hate each other," Cyrus told E! News' Ryan Seacrest today. "We really love each other. He's really cool, and I'm happy we've been able to stay friends.
"Everyone thinks that me and the Jonas Brothers have this big feud going on, and me and Nick are really close friends now. We talk all the time and he's one of my best friends."
Best friends, eh? Well, we suppose anything is possible.
