Janet Jackson's Make Me Video

Here's the new video for Janet Jackson's new single "Make Me." Shot in black and white, it features Janet and her dancers against a white background. Other scenes have Janet in various rooms of a futuristic house which has some very funky decor. In one some spiky artwork/furniture tends to explode like a puffer fish. We especially love the room that's just a giant speaker. Janet looks absolutely gorgeous. As for her outfit, well now that's what we call some fierce shoulder pads. Janet opens the American Music Awards tonight and E! reports that this is the number that she'll be performing tonight. Love her. Take a look:

Jennifer Lopez, Adam Lambert and Janet Jackson Performing Live at AMAs Tonight

Performers have been rehearsing hard for weeks for their live performances tonight at the American Music Awards tonight. Jennifer Lopez hasn't performed live on TV in years and admitted she is a bit nervous. But director/choreographer Kenny Ortega saw her rehearsal and said she was fantastic. Jennifer is reportedly wearing shoes especially designed for her by Christian "Comfort is Not a Priority for Me" Louboutin for her performance of her new song "Louboutins."
Lopez is in top form, but she's still a little nervous. She'll be singing a song fans have never heard before and performing live on TV for the first time in years. "You know what you're doing and you feel very good about it, but at the same time, you wouldn't be human if you're not afraid," she said after her rehearsal.

She's set to perform Louboutins, the first single from her new album, Love?— due in stores next year. Flanked by backup dancers, the 40-year-old entertainer busts out her Fly Girl moves in a number that begins in a boxing ring and ends in the audience. Famed sports announcer Michael Buffer is in the act, too. "I think it's going to be good," she said. "Dancing again, singing, the lights and the costumes -- it all feels like second nature." Veteran choreographer Kenny Ortega, director of Michael Jackson's This Is It, gave Lopez's performance a positive review. "Awesome," he said after dropping by the Nokia Theatre to watch her rehearse.
As for Adam Lambert, he's incorporating leather and chains into his act. But it gets better. Apparently the number includes him dragging a woman across the stage. Janet Jackson will open the show with a surprise number.

Okay, fine. You've got us. We'll be tuning in.

Janet Jackson Opens Up About Michael's Death in Harper's Bazaar

Janet Jackson Harpers Bazaar Oct 09

Janet Jackson covers the October issue of Harper's Bazaar. The issue includes Janet's first interview since the death of her brother, Michael Jackson. She shared memories of her brother and talked about what the media coverage has been like since his death. She told Harper's Bazaar that if she could have one more day with her brother Michael she would, "relive that moment we had when we were kids, do our little run: We'd wake up, feed the animals, spend the entire day together."

On Paris Speaking at Michael Jackson's Memorial Service: "I was really proud," Janet recalls. "People said to me that Michael's daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She's a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They're with all their cousins; that family love will keep them going."

On Michael Jackson's White Glove: "That was actually my brother Jackie's idea at home one day," Janet explains. "He just said, 'You should wear one glove. A white glove.' And then Mike studded it all. That was it."

On Michael Jackson's Style: "if it was shiny, if it had any kind of bling, he loved it. It was that drummer-boy look. Do you remember that black jacket he wore for Motown's 25th anniversary? That's our mother's! He grabbed that from her closet! He loved anything that sparkled."

Janet Jackson also talks about her own style in the interview. She mentions liking harem pants by Ellie Mae Byars of Mizzae and black bracelets by Claudia Tate. She likes designers Roland Mouret and Alexander McQueen. She also admits to having a room just for all of her shoes. Her favorites include "Louboutin, YSL, Alaļa, and Giuseppe Zanotti."

You can read the full interview here on Harper's Bazaar. The cover shoot photos can be found here.

Janet Jackson Launches Lingerie Line

Photo of Janet Jackson and model

Janet Jackson is launching a new lingerie line with Australian fashion designer Bruno Schiavi: the line will focus on lingerie and will be called Pleasure Principle. The line will be sold in stores starting in November, 2008, and will be sold in America, Japan and then Europe. Janet talked about her latest business venture:

"The collection has been carefully created with some of the finest laces from around the world. You will see a lot of satin and lace combined and rich colors such as burgundy and beige, silver and peach as well as your classic black and white. It makes you feel incredible and offers variety as diverse as the women who will wear it," Janet reveals.

The brand name was inspired by Janet's 1987 global hit Pleasure Principle, which was the sixth single released from the Control album. Bruno Schiavi elaborates: "Janet and I wanted to create a collection that empowers women and that makes women feel sexy, flirtatious and provocative. We wanted to make sure we captured the essence of all Janet's favorite colors, laces and making sure that we stay true to who she is and what she loves."

The first collection will feature 14 designs across a combination of bra styles from balconettes, demi cups to full coverage. Sizes will range from a 32A to 44G. Janet, who looks fabulous as usual, is rehearsing for her upcoming World Tour. You can find out more about the tour and what Janet is up to at her website.

Interest in Body Jewelry Rises after Super Bowl Exposure

Janet Jackson's accidental exposure at the Super Bowl in Houston has increased interest in body jewelry. The sun or star shaped adornment that Janet was wearing over her breast is called a nipple shield. Rachel Sauer of the Palm Beach Boast did some research and found that nipple shields are held on by a tiny barbell that goes through the pierced nipple. They also come in many different types and shapes including skulls, flames and police badges.
