Jakks Expands Taylor Swift Doll and Toy Collection

We mentioned several of the Taylor Swift dolls by Jakks currently available in an earlier post. The line is working well for Jakks so they are expanding it. New Taylor Swift dolls, fashions and playsets will be at retailers nationwide in Spring 2010. Here is a complete list of the Taylor Swift toys that will be available from Jakks next spring. Some of these items are already in stores.
  • The Taylor Swift Performance Collection Doll Assortment includes dolls based on Taylor Swift's performances and music videos. Each of the dolls in the assortment sings a 30 second highlight of one of Swift's hit songs, "Our Song," "Teardrops on My Guitar," "Picture to Burn," "Love Story" and her recent chart-topper "You Belong With Me." The dolls are dressed in an outfit replicating what Swift wears in the music video. Each doll also comes with accessories, including a guitar and hair brush. Ages 6+ SRP $19.99
  • The Taylor Swift Fashion Collection Doll Assortment features some of Taylor's most recognizable outfits from award shows, TV appearances and concerts. The assortment includes the "Sundress Medley Doll," "Red Carpet Ready Doll," "Pretty in Pink Doll" and the new "Camera Ready Doll." Ages 6+ SRP $14.99
  • The Taylor Swift Fashion Packs are outfits based on real looks worn by Taylor Swift, including shoes and accessories. The outfits include the "Blender Magazine Fashion," "Dance in the Rain Fashion," "Pink Sundress Fashion," and "Yellow Sundress Fashion." Dolls sold separately. Ages 6+ SRP $9.99
  • The portable Taylor Swift Fashion Wardrobe Set stores all of the Taylor Swift doll fashions and even comes with one complete outfit including boots, shoes, handbag and hangers. Ages 6+ SRP $19.99
  • The Song Recording Studio comes with a recording chair, microphone, head set, laptop, picture frame and rug for your Taylor Swift doll. SRP $4.99

Jakks Creates Two Taylor Swift Doll Collections

Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black doll can now have a friend. Jakks has created two different lines of Taylor Swift dolls. The Taylor Swift performance collection of dolls (MSRP $19.99 each) is designed around Taylor Swift's looks from her different music videos. The three doll each features one of Taylor’s biggest hits: "Our Song", "Teardrops on My Guitar" and "Picture to Burn." The Taylor Swift fashion collection includes dolls (MSRP $14.99 each) wearing some of Taylor's most recognizable outfits from award shows, TV appearances and concert performances. Amazon.com is carrying some of the dolls here but some of them are being sold by third-party sellers for double the MSRP price. Toysrus.com and Walmart.com are not currently carrying the dolls.

Animal Planet Partners With Jakks for Chew Toys

Animal Planet Chew Toys


Animal Planet has partnered with Jakks for a line of cute animal chew toys and other pet products. Brandweek says that toys will launch at PetSmart stores and will go on sale on May 3rd for National Pet Week.
Licensing agency The Joester Loria Group, New York, developed the deal, which will relay the fun and playful positioning of the Animal Planet brand. Items in the line include chew toy koalas and spider monkeys whose limbs are replaced by dog-teeth-resistant ropes and canvas. The line launches at Petsmart’s 1,100 stores around May 3, kicking off National Pet Week.

"The new Jakks line will bridge Animal Planet from animal authority into the pet care arena," said Debra Joester, president and CEO of Joester Loria. "Our goal is to . . . grow the Animal Planet brand from its media base into something animal lovers can enjoy, and depend on, in their everyday lives."
Petmsart will be the exclusive retailer for the new Animal Planet products in May and June. Brandweek says the line will include chews, habitats and edible environments. A portion of the proceed will go to Animal Planet's R.O.A.R..

Jakks and Sanrio Deal Means Many More Hello Kitty Products

Winking Hello KittyJakks Pacific and Sanrio have cut a licensing deal that will result in many more Hello Kitty products. Some of the new products include Hello Kitty figures, playsets, plush toys, indoor and outdoor children's furniture, seasonal products, interactive toys and pens. Jakks says they will begin shipping the new Hello Kitty merchandise in Fall 2009 to Target stores nationwide. There's some more details here from Sanrio's press release.
Under the agreement, products based on Hello Kitty and other SANRIO properties are slated to include figures, playsets, plush toys, indoor and outdoor children’s furniture, seasonal products, interactive toys, and a number of categories related to JAKKS' award-winning portfolio of girls' activity brands.

"The Hello Kitty brand is one of the few licenses in the marketplace that is as relevant today as it was 35 years ago," said Jennifer Richmond, SVP of Licensing and Media, JAKKS Pacific. "We look forward to working with SANRIO to launch a full array of innovative and exciting products to further extend this top brand at retail."

"Hello Kitty is truly an evergreen brand that has transcended generations," said Janet Hsu, President, Sanrio Global Consumer Products. "Through our new partnership with JAKKS, we are excited to bring forth a full merchandising program with fresh new products across multiple categories to continue the success of this brand."

The initial Hello Kitty line-up from JAKKS is slated to include mini figures such as Molded Clip-ons, Urban Figures, quirky and clever collectible figures of Hello Kitty pairs based on the current urban vinyl figure trend, and a Purse Play Set with Small Figures line.

Hello Kitty activities from JAKKS will feature Pen Craft, a line of pens customizable with beads and charms and Hello Kitty String World playsets, a line of activity sets for kids to create their own unique jewelry, room decor and even small dolls using a patented combination of colorful string and glue contained in a pen. The Disco Desktop Speaker is for today's girl who enjoys bopping along with Hello Kitty.

Jakks Launches Eyeclops Mini Projector at Toy Fair

Jakks Pacific Inc. will unveil its Eyeclops Mini Projector at the New York Toy Fair. It's meant for kids but it does function like a real projector. These pocket sized projector can connect to DVD players, video games consoles, and digital cameras. They can display images up to 70 inches using its LED lighting. It is expected to retail for under $100. Jakks also makes the EyeClops Bionic Eye. (via Engagdet)

Jakks Pacific Buys Costume Manufacturer Disguise, Inc

Disguise Iron Man CostumeJakks Pacific, Inc., a toy and leisure products company, has acquired Halloween costume and decor company, Disguise, Inc. San Diego-based Disguise is a 21-year-old manufacturer of Halloween costumes and accessories. Disguise's portfolio includes non-licensed Halloween costumes including pirates, historical figures, aliens, animals, vampires, angels and more. They also make costumes based on popular licensed characters from top intellectual property owners including Disney, Marvel, Mattel, Hasbro and Sesame Street, among others.

Stephen Berman, President and COO of Jakks said, "We expect to maximize opportunities provided by Disguise and take advantage of synergies across multiple JAKKS divisions. We look forward to expanding our existing role-play and dress-up business, while firmly positioning Jakks in the Halloween industry."
