The Daily Mailreports that the British female band Girls Aloud has launched a range of faux eyelashes with Eylure. Each member of the band has a different eyelashes style. Cheryl Cole's (pictured above) style is said to be the longest and densest.
The collection includes five styles of eyelashes inspired by each Girls Aloud bandmember, with Cheryl's Hollywood style lashes the longest and densest and Sarah opting for a dramatic, shorter look.
Nicola's lashes are more natural and feminine, Kimberley's are long and light and Nadine's are for everyday use.
Kimberley enthused: 'It’s every girl's dream to have your own (bespoke) false eyelashes. You know that they are always going to fit perfectly and look just right.'
The Daily Mail says Girls Aloud was approached to launch their own false eyelashes after they were credited with boosting the sales of faux lashes in Britain. Tesco health and beauty director Mark Tylesley said Cheryl's teary appearances on The X Factor last year drew attention to her false eyelashes and waterproof mascara. Tylesley says, "Cheryl Cole is doing for false eyelashes now what Dusty Springfield did for them in the Sixties. She's a modern icon so it's not surprising so many young women are influenced by her style."
Beaut.ie says the Girls Aloud collection will be sold on ASOS beginning April 20th.
Graphic designer Amitis Pahlevan came up with this unusual design for a font made from fake eyelashes. Eyelashes make for kind of an odd font but it's a very creative idea. The fake eyelashes not a downloadable font yet says Bellasugar. Amitis also came up with a cool candle font that uses lit candles. Allergan announced that it received FDA approval to market its glaucoma drug Latisse as a drug to promote eyelash growth. The glaucoma drug has a side effect that female patients were very happy with: they got long, lush eyelashes.
Latisse, which Allergan plans to launch in February, represents a new use for its seven-year-old glaucoma drug, bimatoprost, which is sold under the brand name Lumigan. The drug's use as a beauty aid was discovered by patients and eye doctors, who have reported for years that a side effect of the Lumigan drops is enhanced eyelashes.
To protect its turf, Allergan is already waging a legal battle with competitors who marketed their own eyelash products based on bimatoprost and similar ingredients.
"Latisse exemplifies our continuing commitment to developing innovative treatments that are studied in well-controlled clinical trials, manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, appropriately labeled for use, and available to consumers as a prescription product," said Scott Whitcup, Allergan's executive vice president of research and development. Latisse will be sold by physicians in states that allow them to dispense drugs. In other states, Latisse will be available at the pharmacy.
Allergan said Latisse's retail price will be $120 for a 30-day supply bottle for both eyes. The treatment is applied daily to the base of the upper lashes with a disposable applicator, which looks like a tiny paint brush.
Latisse users will see longer, fuller and dark lashes in as little as eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks, Allergan said. Eyelashes will gradually return to their prior appearance if treatment isn't maintained.
Allergan said that global peak sales could exceed $500 million a year. "We would agree based on the high level of enthusiasm for this product among our industry contacts. However, we think the initial uptake will be muted due to the economic situation," Wachovia Capital Markets Inc. analyst Larry Biegelsen wrote in a research note. He said Latisse will be included in Allergan's discount program to physicians who use large volumes of its products, including notably the antiwrinkle drug Botox.
Allergan said the most common side effects of Latisse are an itching sensation in the eyes and redness, which were reported in about 4% of patients. Latisse may cause darkening of the eyelid skin, which Allergan said may be reversible. In addition, the Irvine, Calif., company said that Latisse may cause permanent increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye, although this problem wasn't observed in its FDA tests.
We've seen a someone's lashes who used the drug off-label and she had really amazing eyelashes. We thought they were fake until she explained what she'd been using. There were a lot of safety questions about using a glaucoma drug for eyelash growth, but it appears that the FDA is giving the go-ahead. This one's going to sell like crazy. Although we don't like the idea of Latisse turning our blue eyes brown. That's just weird.

Tokyo Lash Bar 2008 Includes Viktor & Rolf Designed Eyelashes

Viktor & Rolf exclusively designed three Couture eyelashes inspired by their latest collection. Encased in a luxurious white box complete with a masquerade eye mask, the collection blends Viktor & Rolf's artistic and conceptual approach to design with shu uemura's avant-garde vision.
