Spring/Summer 2010 Burberry Campaign: Behind-the-Scenes Video
We recently posted photographs of the Spring/Summer 2010 Burberry campaign featuring Emma Watson. Now a behind-the-scenes video is available. Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey explains what he was looking for with the new campaign. Emma Watson also talks about her brother, Alex Watson, being part of the new Burberry campaign. Take a look:
Emma Watson is the Face of Burberry's Spring 2010 Campaign
Emma Watson is back as the face of Burberry for the Spring 2010 campaign. Emma's 17-year-old brother, Alex Watson, is also in the Spring 2010 campaign. That's Alex in the photograph above. The campaign, showcasing Burberry's trenchcoats and handbags, was shot by photographer Mario Testino. You can see more photographs from the campaign here. Testino also photographed the Fall 2009 campaign which also featured Emma Watson - see here and here.
WWD reports that Burberry is branching out into cosmetics. The company is launching a full line for eyes, lips and skin. The line will launch in July, 2010.
"It gives another dimension to the brand," said Philippe Benacin, chairman and managing director of Inter Parfums SA, which holds the Burberry beauty license. He described the project as a complete color line with about 100 references for eyes, lips and skin. It will be carried in between 30 and 35 doors worldwide, including the U.S.'s Nordstrom and France's Galeries Lafayette.
There has been no mention of a designer who will actually create the line or an announcement of who will be the face of the line. The company could just do a house line, but it would sell better if customers know who was choosing the colors and the types of skin products. Emma Watson is the clothing spokesperson and she would be an excellent face for the cosmetics line. It's all a bit vague for a launch that's happening so quickly, so we'll be interested to hear more over the next few months.
Emma Watson is designing capsule collection for ethical clothing line People Tree, which will launch in February 2010. Emma explained her decision to do a collection, saying "I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with."
The collection will include dresses, woven skirts, jersey t-shirts, shorts, pants, and knits for men and women. It will also feature Bohemian hand embroidered bed throws, recycled sweetie paper jewelery, banana fiber slouchy beanies, head scarves and other fashion and home accessories. The items will be made of 100% organic and fair-trade cotton, and will be made entirely by hand by fair-trade artisans. You can visit the People Tree website here.
When Emma Watson appeared in Crash magazine with her eyebrows whited out, Geisha-style, it was just another expression of the no-eyebrow trend. Make up artist Pat McGrath is being credited -- or blamed -- for the trend.
In high fashion circles, eyebrows are being bleached, shaved or covered with wax-like makeup in order to create a blank, emotionless canvas. The effect? A severe, static look on models and other trendsetters who are experimenting with this new "beauty" movement. Perhaps it's no surprise, considering futuristic and androgynous clothing trends have remained constant for the past few years.
However, all current credit for the craze must be given to the goddess of makeup masters, Pat McGrath, and her cadre of brow-less beauties on the Fall '09 Balenciaga and Prada runways. Recent ad campaigns from Givenchy, Longchamp and Valentino followed suit, and now Hollywood has taken on the trend, as Kim Kardashian demonstrated in a recent blog post in which she referenced teen series "Twilight" as her inspiration.
Somehow we seriously doubt this is going to go mainstream. For one thing, the upkeep alone would be a major pain: you'd need to fully wax or shave your brows every few days. Emma Watson is wise beyond her years. You just know Karl Lagerfeld asked to shave her eyebrows just to see if she'd go for it, and clearly her response was: let's try makeup instead.
Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, is actually a nice guy off-set. But he really has enjoyed playing the bad guy. Access Hollywood talked to Tom when he was filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. If you have somehow managed to avoid reading the book or seeing the movie, the big spoiler of the book is discussed in the clip. You've been warned. Take a look:
Daniel Radcliffe talks about his on-screen romances and kisses at a press conference for the new Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in London. Emma Watson reveals that the movies are so dark sometimes that the cast was happy to have a romantic comedy element in this film. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens in wide release in the U.S. on July 15. Take a look:
Here's a behind-the-scenes video from Emma Watson's recent Burberry photo shoot. The video includes commentary from Christopher Bailey, Creative Director of Burberry. Emma Watson wears her trench coat with a Burberry Snood. The Autumn Winter 2009 campaign images were shot by photographer Mario Testino in London next to Big Ben. Emma Watson said the photo shoot had been "possibly the biggest ego boost of her life." She also said her grandmother has been wearing Burberry "forever." Take a look:
People has dispelled a rumor that Harry Potter star and Burberry model Emma Watson is designing a charity clothing line that would benefit UNICEF. The rumor spread to blogs (see here and here) and news outlets (see here and here) although many were skeptical about the rumor because it came from an unreliable source, News of the World. It won't be a surprise if Emma Watson does something like this someday but it's not happening right now.
Emma Watson is the
new face of Burberry and will star in the British firm's next ad campaign. The campaign was shot by Mario Testino.
It's a match made in style heaven to have Harry Potter star and fashionista Emma Watson be the new face of the Burberry fall ad campaign, especially to hear creative director Christopher Bailey tell it. "Having known and admired the lovely Emma Watson for quite some time, she was the obvious choice for this campaign who like the images she fronts, has a classic beauty a great character and a modern edge," says Bailey. And having a 19-year old front the brand also brings a dash of fun and youth, even to the shoot by Mario Testino itself.
Bailey reveals, "Emma's charm, intellect and brilliant sense of fun made the whole shoot feel like a picnic on the Thames." But even with her youth and fame, the campaign is meant to reflect the classic side of Burberry and its long history. Bailey explains, "I wanted the images to represent both the rich history and the modernity of the Burberry brand whilst at the same time reflecting a quiet beauty, timelessness and strength that is particularly significant today."
Emma looks lovely and we think she's a perfect choice for the line's fall campaign.
Designer Karl Lagerfeld recently photographed actress Emma Watson. The photographs includes artistic photos of Emma Watson as a nun. The photos appear in an upcoming issue of the French fashion magazine Crash.
In Stylereports that Emma Watson had a great time during the photo shoot. Emma said, "This was a dream come true. We spent the whole day together and he can talk about anything - literature, art, science, modern culture. I was totally seduced."

Emma Watson Talks Harry Potter With Interview Magazine
Emma Watson - known to millions as Hermione from Harry Potter - is featured in Interview magazine. You can read the interview here. In the wide-ranging interview, Emma talks about traveling, driving, acting, auditions, art, studying and her love of the Harry Potter novels.
On Traveling: "Yes, and that's where the films have helped. With Harry Potter, I've been all over the world. I probably wouldn't have gone to New York so young if it weren't for the films. I was 11, and I remember it distinctly because it was just after 9/11. I was at ground zero, looking at this gallery that had messages and drawings all over the walls."
On the Harry Potter novels: "I loved the books-I was a massive fan. I just felt like that part belonged to me. I know that sounds crazy, but from that first audition, I always knew. At the beginning, they were
casting the other characters as well-but I always knew I was going out for Hermione. She came so naturally to me. Maybe so much of myself at the time was similar to her. Of course, all this terrified my parents—there were literally thousands and thousands of girls going out for the audition, and my parents were anxious about what I would do if I didn't get it."
On Driving: "I got my license last year, and I love the Prius, even if my friends say it's ugly. They say I drive a brick. And, to be fair, it's not the prettiest car on the road, but it’s good for the environment. It's sensible and boring-like me."
WWDreported today that actress Emma Watson could be the new face of Burberry for the British luxury fashion house's fall campaign.
Meanwhile, Burberry is reported to have nabbed Emma Watson for its fall campaign. A Burberry spokeswoman declined to comment on a British press report, saying the project had not yet been finalized. The campaign will be unveiled at the end of May.
If Watson does appear, it's likely she won’t be the only star of the show: Just as Burberry loves its young English movers and shakers - past campaigns have included actor Alex Pettyfer, musician George Craig, and celebrity offspring Max Irons and Theodora Richards - it also loves a group shot. The whole experience might be Hogwarts all over again.
We won't find out if Emma Watson is the new face of Burberry until early this summer. A Burberry spokesman toldPeople: "The campaign is not yet finalised and once it is we don't release any information until the official launch time, which would be around June of this year."
Emma Watson to Replace Keira Knightley in Chanel Campaign
British actress Emma Watson, best known for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has been chosen by Chanel to replace Keira Knightly as the face of Coco Mademoiselle. The contract is reportedly worth nearly $6 million.
A source said Miss Watson's appointment will be announced next month. 'Emma has been excitedly telling friends that she is going to be taking over from Keira.'
Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand.
They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit.
Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up. Chanel realises it is important to target a young audience.'
It is understood that Miss Watson's bosses at Warner Bros, which makes the Harry Potter films, have given their full backing to the deal.
Emma is a lovely choice for the campaign. It's hard to believe she's already eighteen and a budding fashion icon.
