American Lung Association Releases 2009 State of the Air Report
 The American Lung Association has released its State of the Air report for 2009. The report ranks cities on three different pollution factors: ozone, year-round particle pollution and short-term particle pollution. There are different rankings for cleanist cities and most polluted cities for each of the three categories. You can see the city rankings here. You can also get data for your location by inputing your zip code.
Fargo-Wahpeton, ND-MN was the only city to appear on all three lists of cleanest cities. Seven cities made it on cleanest city lists for two categories.
Fargo-Wahpeton, ND-MN emerged as the cleanest city in the U.S., the only city to appear on all three lists of cleanest cities. Seventeen cities appeared on two of the three lists of cleanest cities: Billings, MT; Bismarck, ND; Cheyenne, WY; Colorado Springs, CO; Farmington, NM; Ft. Collins, CO; Honolulu, HI; Lincoln, NE; Midland-Odessa, TX; Port St. Lucie, FL; Pueblo, CO; Redding, CA; Salinas, CA; San Luis Obispo, CA; Santa Fe-Espanola, NM; Sioux Falls, ND; and Tucson, AZ.
In most polluted cities, Los Angeles topped the ozone list and was in the top four on the year-round particle pollution and short term particle pollution lists. Bakersfield, California was also in the top three on each of the pollution lists.
