Cindy Crawford Launching Jewelry Line with J.C. Penney
WWD reports
that Cindy Crawford is launching a new jewelry line with J.C. Penney. The line will be called One Kiss.
The 40-piece collection, called One Kiss, is to hit 600 J.C. Penney stores and jcp.com in April. The line features sterling silver, gemstone and diamond designs inspired by a henna symbol that translates to "kiss." The pieces range from layered chains to drop earrings to stackable rings, all retailing for between $79 and $299.
One Kiss is Crawford's second partnership with the $15.1 billion retailer. In April, she signed with Penney's to launch a home and bedding collection, Cindy Crawford Style.
"Once I got 'married' to J.C. Penney, the opportunity to do more just seemed like the right thing to do and jewelry was a fun departure from bedding," Crawford said. "When I started speaking with the jewelry team, we were definitely aware of the success of the Jane Seymour collection for Kay [Jewelers] and her universal symbol of an open heart. But obviously, we can't redo what someone else has done. So we looked for a universal shape that had an appealing aesthetic. We came across this henna symbol for 'kiss,' which I liked. It was cool, but I love what it means. It's not necessarily a romantic kiss, it could be a mother's kiss. You can also buy it for yourself."
Cindy and the design team camped out at her Malibu home for long hours to design the line. Cindy says she wanted the line to reflect who she is: she spends lots of time at the beach and usually wears jeans. She wanted the jewelry to fit into her own lifestyle.
The new collaboration is part of Penney's plans to add upscale lines at affordable prices. The Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen line Olsenboye is also a part of this strategy.

Cindy Crawford to Design Home Goods Line for JC Penney
JC Penney has hired supermodel Cindy Crawford for a new line of bedding and home decor called Cindy Crawford Style. The Wall Street Journal says the collection will premiere at JC Penney's new Manahattan store this July. It will go on sale in September.
The Cindy Crawford Style collection will be on view at Penney's new Manhattan store when it opens in July. Starting in September, the chain's 1,100 locations nationwide will carry a mix of Ms. Crawford's moderately priced tableware, window treatments, furniture and bedding.
Ms. Crawford says the line, like her exercise videos and Meaningful Beauty skin-care brand, is a way to give women a taste of her glamorous lifestyle.
"I've been able to experience amazing things in my life," says the 43-year-old Ms. Crawford. "But I am also just a girl from Illinois with two sisters" -- sisters who, like most people, can't afford private trainers, Parisian facialists and celebrity interior decorators, she says. (Interior designer Michael Smith decorated Ms. Crawford's own homes.)
Cindy Crawford also has a furniture line called Cindy Crawford Home that is sold at Rooms to Go. Ms. Crawford's JC Penney line will be moderatly priced - a queen comforter will cost between $169.99 and $179.99 says the WSJ. Reuters says decorative pillows will cost $23.99. Cindy Crawford Tears Apart a Loaf of Bread
Cindy Crawford did a photo spread for Allure magazine that shows her naked wearing only shaving cream, which you've probably seen by now. In another one of the photos (see above) Cindy wears a bathing suit while taking out her frustrations on some innocent carbohydrates. You can see the photos here. Cindy told Allure that she thinks she looks pretty good for 43 (she looks terrific) but she knows she doesn't look 23 anymore.
"I think I look pretty good for 43. But I don't look the way I did when I was 23," says Crawford. "So if Star magazine or whatever wants to print a picture of me on the beach from the back, at the worst possible angle, and say that I have cellulite, I'm like, Guess what? I do, and I never said I didn't.
Cindy Crawford also says it is hair color not plastic surgery that makes women look younger. She says, "You can get any plastic surgery in the world, but hair color is what enables women to look younger longer."
