2010 Oscar Fashions: Cameron Diaz

Photo of Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz looked stunning at the 82nd annual Academy Awards last night. Cam went for old school glamour, wearing a fabulous Oscar de la Renta ballgown which was embellished with gold sequins and metallic ribbons. The gown featured a full skirt and a form-fitting strapless bodice. Cameron accessorized with $50,000 Cartier white, yellow, rose gold and diamond pave "Trinity" hoop earrings and a Cartier white gold, princess and round cut diamond ring diamond, which retails for close to $60,000. Her hair was styled down in a classic side part, which is a big change for her. She looks elegant and beautiful.

Cameron Diaz Graces the Cover of June Vogue

Cameron Diaz Vogue June 2009

Actress Cameron Diaz graces the cover of the June issue of Vogue. She was photographed by Mario Testino. In the photo above Cameron is wearing a Rag & Bone 100 percent organic-cotton cardigan and a Tibi one-shoulder bathing suit. In the Vogue interview, Cameron talks about driving, her childhood, labels and her upcoming film, My Sister's Keeper.

On Visiting Her Cuban Grandmother in Tampa, Florida: "Spending a month in Tampa with your Cuban grandmother is like-well, we weren't allowed to go outside, because you would either get kidnapped or break an arm." More C.D. laughter. "So you spent a lot of time inside, playing cards, eating steak and rice and beans and drinking RC Cola and watching soap operas. It was a bit of a void for a few weeks, and then we would end up at an island in the Gulf that we'd go to, and we would be there for a week and a half, and that was just glorious."

On Labels: "People who put labels on themselves limit themselves," she says. "If you are a woman who's been labeled as a sex symbol, for instance-I mean, I am not saying that's the label people would apply to me. But if you see yourself that way, inevitably you get to a point when you are no longer a sex symbol. And if you can't move past that, you're putting a limit on yourself; you're arresting your development. And that's where I think a lot of women get in trouble."

On My Sister's Keeper, "It's about falling in love. It's about all different kinds of love. Parents falling in love with their children. Children falling in love with their parents. Falling in love for the first time. Falling in love with being a teenager. All of the things that you fall in love with, that our hearts give way to over a lifetime, and then the heartbreaks when those things get taken away."

Drew Barrymore Talks Third Charlie's Angels Movie

Screen shot from Charlie's Angels

Drew Barrymore says that a new Charlie's Angels movie is in the works. Drew talked to E's Marc Malkin.
Ms. Barrymore just told me she's hot to make a third installment of her supersuccessful Charlie's Angels movie franchise. "I'm so into it," Barrymore said while promoting her new star-filled romantic comedy, He's Just Not That Into You. "I'm so into it -- Charlie's Angels III!"

"It's percolating up," said Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore's Flower Films producing partner. "It's rising to the surface." Barrymore added, "They're hard movies to make, but they're fun." And lucrative! The franchise grossed $544 million worldwide, according to boxofficemojo.com.

Ideas are being kicked around, including the possible introduction of a fourth Angel. It happened in the original Aaron Spelling series when Cheryl Ladd joined the cast in 1977 as Kris Munroe, sister of Farrah Fawcett's iconic Jill.

Let's not forget about a villain. Sam Rockwell and Crispin Glover were among the baddies the first time around. Demi Moore appeared in Full Throttle as Madison Lee, a former Angel turned vamped-up villainess. For the next flick, they say they'll probably go with another guy.
A fourth angel is a great idea. We think it's time for Sarah Michelle Gellar to suit up and get back into the action business. Sarah as the new angel -- that's the ticket. If Drew Barrymore is blond by then and they feel they'd rather have a brunette, how about Vanessa Hudgens? She can be a baby angel in training.

Cameron Diaz's Fashion Disaster

Photo of Cameron Diaz and her communist handbag Cameron Diaz went to Peru to shoot a documentary and get a little tourism in at the ancient city of Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, she caused an international incident when she wore this hideous green purse with a giant red star and a Chairman Mao slogan written in Chinese characters. The locals suffered horribly in a war against Maoist rebels and were outraged she would wear such a purse. She has apologized though.
The Shrek star visited the historical Machu Picchu site with a green bag which had a red star and the words "serve the people" printed in Chinese. It evoked memories of a Peruvian war against Maoist rebels in the 1980s and '90s, when up to 69,000 people died. Diaz admitted she did not realise the slogan's "potentially hurtful nature". "I sincerely apologise to anyone I may have inadvertently offended," she said in a statement released to the Associated Press.

"The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China." She went on: "I'm sorry for any people's pain and suffering, and it was certainly never my intention to reopen what I now know is a painful wound in this country's history." Diaz wore the bag while sightseeing at the Incan city of Machu Picchu And she spoke of Peruvians' beauty and warmth, saying she wished "for their continued healing".

Her appearance with the bag had drawn criticism from prominent local human rights activist Pablo Rojas. "It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims," he said on Friday. "I don't think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology did so much damage."
The moral of this story is: don't buy clothing or accessories that are plastered with slogans in foreign languages you don't speak. Because you just never know what incredibly offensive statement you may be making. Although we don't think Cameron did it intentionally, how ignorant do you have to be to not know what the national symbol of the Chinese Communist party is? Anyone who got through high school history class knows that a lot of people suffered because of Chairman Mao's insane ideas and accompanying Orwellian slogans. Get a clue -- and a new handbag.

Bobo Look Still Going Strong

It looks like Bobo style is here to stay for awhile. And it's not just about clothing anymore. The New York Daily News has an interesting article about the trend.
Too hurried to perfectly primp each morning? Tired of squandering precious time and money each month at hair, nail and waxing salons? Good news: Letting yourself go is becoming all the rage. Or, at least it's in keeping with beauty's latest trend toward more relaxed and natural grooming.

Stylists are calling it "slobby chic," "earthy elegance" and "modern bohemian." But by any name, you're sure to see lots of it, in the form of shaggy or long, wavy hair; messy ponytails with tendrils falling about; thicker, less sharply arched brows; short, colorless nails, and neatly scrubbed faces on the fashionable and the famous--and not just in Saturday morning paparazzi photos.
The article speculates that slobby chic is a backlash against all the pressure on women to look perfect all the time. But the irony is that the look can actually be quite time-consuming.
"On many people, it may seem effortless, but it's not," says Emily Dougherty, beauty and fitness director for Elle magazine. "They're still having their nails done--just getting them buffed, or done in clear and neutral shades. Even though they might not be getting Botox, they're placing great emphasis on having good skin, maybe having microdermabrasion done, or a chemical peel. And they're still getting their hair done. The funny thing is that the 'undone' look is usually harder for a stylist to pull off than a polished look. But people are just so tired of blowouts."
So, if you're having a nightmarish hair day, cut your own bangs, slap on some lip gloss and sally forth as if you spent hours with a stylist to get that "Cameron Diaz just had a tornado in her closet" look. You'll need some major attitude to pull it off though.
