Videos: Angelina Jolie Talks Haiti, Adoption Plans

CNN's Christiane Amanpour talks to Angelina Jolie when Angie was in Haiti for the UN High Council on Refugees. Angie discusses the problems that Haiti is having in child trafficking and why she thinks immediate adoption is not an appropriate response in an emergency.

This clip is part of a longer interview, in which Angie also says -- when asked -- that she is not adverse to adopting child from Haiti in the future and that she and Brad talk about adoptions all the time. But it doesn't sound like something she's planning on doing any time soon. Here's that brief clip:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Take Maddox to the Super Bowl

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and son Maddox had a fun time at the Super Bowl game on Sunday. Brad and Angie even exchanged a kiss in full view of the paparazzi at the game. Brad Pitt, who has been working on a housing project in the ninth ward, was no doubt thrilled that New Orleans won. Maddox was wearing a New Orleans Saints jersey at the game. Take a look:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Together at Directors Guild of America Awards

This grainy video clip shows Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together at the Directors Guild of America Awards awards in L.A. on Saturday. They appeared to be happy and having fun despite recent breakup rumors. There is a rumor the couple will not be attending the Oscars. We hope this is not true because the Oscars won't be the same without Angelina Jolie on the red carpet.

Brad Pitt is Still Covered in Hair

Photo of Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt appeared at the Hope for Haiti telethon last night, fully bearded. Yes, that horrible thing on his chin is still there. It's awful. He knows the world hates it. Even People magazine wrote him an open letter begging him to shave it -- to no avail. We feel sure that he's doing it to spite his fans. But why? We are his fans, after all. Why would he be so cruel? Perhaps he's decided the paparazzi will stop following him if he looks absolutely frightening.

How Angie stands it is beyond us. Although, with all the breakup rumors swirling around the couple, perhaps she isn't.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Jennifer Aniston Work the Phones for Haiti

Photo of Sacha Baron Cohen and Jennifer Aniston

Sacha Baron Cohen and Jennifer Aniston work the phone banks at last night's Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which was orchestrated by George Clooney. Jen's ex-husband Brad Pitt appeared and spoke on camera, but People says they never ran into each other. Most likely, they made sure they wouldn't have an on-camera run in, so that the focus would stay on the fundraising and not on them. Jen looks lovely, as usual. Alas, Brad showed up with his nanny-goat beard and as a result looked absolutely ghastly.

Allegations of Financial Improprieties Dog Wyclef Jean's Charity

The Washington Post reports that there is an investigation underway into the finances of Wyclef Jean's charity, Yele Haiti. Allegations of financial improprieties and self-dealing have been made. Yele Haiti reported close to $1.9 million in income on its 2008 tax return.
Undoubtedly, Jean's celebrity helped draw in donors: He's an internationally known musician from Haiti who won a Grammy with the Fugees and went on to a hugely successful solo career. But an analysis of the charity's tax returns raises questions about how it has spent money in the past, with administrative expenses that appear to be higher than comparable charities and payments to businesses owned by the musician and a board member, including $100,000 for a performance by Jean at a 2006 benefit concert.

"It seems clear that a significant amount of the monies that this charity raises go for costs other than providing benefits to Haitians in need," said Dean Zerbe, national managing director of Alliant Group, a tax services company, and the former tax counsel to the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees charities.

*****

But its financial records raise questions, experts say. In 2006, Yele Haiti had about $1 million in revenue, according to tax documents. More than a third of the money went to payments to related parties, said lawyer James Joseph, who specializes in nonprofit issues. "It might be completely legitimate. But it's certainly something I would want to look into more carefully," Joseph said.

For instance, the charity recorded a payment of $250,000 to Telemax, a TV station and production company in Haiti in which Jean and Jerry Duplessis, both members of Yele Haiti's board of directors, had a controlling interest. The charity paid about $31,000 in rent to Platinum Sound, a Manhattan recording studio owned by Jean and Duplessis. And it spent an additional $100,000 for Jean's performance at a benefit concert in Monaco. Locke said that Jean and Duplessis were unavailable for comment Friday.
You can read the documents supporting the allegations at The Smoking Gun.

Wyclef categorically denies charges of wrongdoing. You can read his statement here.

We did think it was interesting that Wyclef Jean's friends Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt chose to give $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, rather than give the money to Yele Haiti.

People Magazine Begs Brad Pitt to Shave His Beard

By now you've all seen Brad Pitt's horrifying beard. It's scraggly. It's unkempt. It's truly, truly hideous. Now even the always tactful People magazine has been pushed to the brink by the sheer awfulness of Brad's new, hirsute look. In fact, the magazine has penned an open letter to Brad begging him to lose the beard. It's pretty funny.
At the beginning it just looked like a little week-off stubble. Then perhaps a soul patch being cultivated for a role in a Tarantino follow-up. But weeks passed, and no such part appeared.

Now that scraggly tortilla-chip-crumb trap growing under your lip has taken up permanent residence on a face that, in its clean-shaven days, twice graced our Sexiest Man Alive cover.

So maybe the beard was an act of self-defense against a third Sexiest Man title? Were you worried that Clooney would never stop ribbing you if we crowned you again? No worries! The deadline is long past and, as you know by now, we gave it to the comparatively clean-cut, not to mention younger (JK!), Johnny Depp.

And speaking of Cap'n Jack Sparrow, what is with the pirate booty beads in the beard? Too much. When Zahara and Shiloh can braid baubles into your facial hair on lazy mornings in the family bed, it's time to shave that bad boy. Please.

Best wishes for 2010,

Your pals at PEOPLE
Dude, when People magazine says lose the beard....it's time to lose the beard.

Julia Roberts is the New Global Ambassdor for Lancome

Photo of Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is a new global ambassador for Lancome. WWD reports that the details of Julia's new role won't be made public until early next year.
Part of the movement of top-tier stars into beauty began when the celebrity fragrance trend started to gain traction in 2001 with Jennifer Lopez's Glow by J.Lo, which did upwards of $100 million at retail globally in its first year on counter. In February 2002, Catherine Zeta-Jones signed a spokeswoman deal with Elizabeth Arden, and the star race was on. It now includes Cate Blanchett promoting Procter & Gamble Co.'s SK-II skin care line; Halle Berry representing both makeup at Revlon and her own fragrances at Coty Beauty; Kate Winslet as the face of Lancome's Tresor fragrance, and Brad Pitt partnering with Kiehl's. As Zeta-Jones told WWD in March 2008, "Things have completely changed. It used to be, if you're an actor, why are you selling stuff? People only used to do it in Japan. But beauty is an industry that makes complete sense for an actress."
The Internet is what changed all that. Major movie stars have done ads in Japan for years with strict contract provisions requiring that the ads would never be seen outside of that country. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have both done Japanese campaigns. But when the Internet arrived, fans would pass around the ads to fans all over the world. When movie stars' careers didn't come to a screeching halt just because they hawked beer in Japan, agents realized that the old taboo of big stars not hawking products was officially over.

Now, every major star wants a big commercial contract. This is why you don't see models as faces of major cosmetics companies much any more: the movie stars and their agents have snapped them up.

Brad Pitt Talks About His Motorcycle Accident at Tokyo Press Conference

Brad Pitt talked about his recent motorcycle accident at a Tokyo press conference. He says there were no injuries except for his ego. Brad Pitt in Minor Motorcycle Accident

Brad Pitt was riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles when he lost control of the bike and fell. He wasn't hurt. TMZ corrected other stories that said Brad was hit by a paparazzo who was following him.
We just spoke to someone who has seen video of the incident -- and we're told absolutely no one else was involved in the accident. We're told Brad tried to maneuver his bike between a parked car and a car stopped at a red light, and his handlebars clipped the parked car. We're told he lost control and fell over -- and everything is fine.
Brad has said in interviews that he likes riding his motorcycle around L.A. because he feels anonymous and unrecognized. Apparently that's not the case at all, since someone got video of the entire incident. It's that horrible beard. He's recognizable at 100 yards with that thing.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Take Twins for Ice Cream in Jordan

Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Twins Jordan Ice Cream

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took the twins Knox and Vivienne out for ice cream in Amman, Jordan. The photograph was taken and posted to Twitter by Ihab Fakhouri, co-owner of the Licky Licious ice cream shop in Amman. Fakhouri told People that Knox loved the mango ice cream.
"They were walking down the street and saw our shop. Brad stopped and said, 'Do you guys have ice cream?' I said 'Are you kidding? Of course!'" Fakhouri tells PEOPLE.

During the foursome's 10-15 minutes in the shop, Pitt sampled several flavors and ended up with a cup of pecan, caramel and vanilla ice cream, which he shared with Vivienne. Jolie decided on the mango ice cream and gave Knox some. "Knox loved the mango. He was like, 'Wow!' " says Fakhouri.
Angelina Jolie has recently been in Iraq urging the world not to forget Iraqi refugees.

Brad Pitt Named Hat Person of the Year

Photo of Brad Pitt

The Headwear Association announced that Brad Pitt has been crowned as the association's Hat Person of the Year. The award is made annually by the 101-year-old organization. With 37 percent of the vote, Brad Pitt beat out Justin Timberlake (18%), Sarah Jessica Parker (17%), Samuel L. Jackson (11%), Jessica Simpson (9%) and Nicole Kidman (7%).

"We created this award to honor well-known people that wear a hat in their everyday life," said David Goldman, president of The Headwear Association. "This year, we tip our hat to Brad Pitt, who wears many hats on and off the screen and recently has been spotted globe-trotting in ivy caps and stingy-brim fedoras."

The winner was chosen based on a global poll on The Headwear Association's website during the month of August where people could cast a vote for their favorite hat wearing celeb. Both men and women were nominated and it is especially impressive that he beat out Madonna's Marc Jacobs bunny ears at the last Met Ball. Still, Madonna is in The Headwear Association Official Hall of Fame, so that must be some consolation.

Quentin Tarantino's Leading Ladies Sing His Praises

At the New York premiere of Inglorious Basterds actresses Diane Kruger and Melanie Laurent sing the praises of Quentin Tarantino. Quentin himself says he had the idea of having Brad Pitt play Aldo Raine for ten years. He never had a second choice for the role; he says he just got lucky that Brad wanted to do it. Take a look:
