Old Navy Offering Free Lego Rockband Game With $20 Purchase on Black Friday

Lego Rockband Old Navy Video Game

Old Navy's Black Friday ad circular says you can get the Lego Rockband video game for free with a $20 purchase on Black Friday. The recently released game has an MSRP of $49.99 and is selling for a little less than that on sites like Amazon.com. Joystiq was skeptical (for good reason) that a clothing retailer will hand out a $50 video game with $20 of clothes but it appears to be legit. The ad does says "supplies are extremely limited." The offer could certainly motivate some shoppers to visit Old Navy early on Black Friday. Old Navy stores will open at 3 a.m. They will be using wristbands.

You can find links to other Black Friday ad scans and circulars here on shoppersshop.com.

Black Friday Blu-ray Players: How Low Can You Go?

Before the Black Friday ads started to appear there was speculation that Black Friday prices on Blu-ray players would dip below the $99 mark. A $49 Blu-ray player was even though to be possible. As it turns out there are several Black Friday Blu-ray players selling under the $99 mark. Here is a short list of the low-priced players offers so far.
  • Walmart: Magnavox NB500MG1F Blu-ray deck, $78
  • Meijer: Sylvania Blu-ray deck, $89
  • Best Buy: Insignia NS-BRDVD3 Blu-ray player, $99
  • AAFES: Sharp BD-HP2310U, $99
Yahoo Tech says the possibility of a $49 deal is still in the cards.

The lower priced tech items offered on Black Friday are sometimes missing features. VideoBusiness.com notes that the Insignia blu-ray player Best Buy is selling is web-enabled whereas the low-priced Magnavox and Sylvania players that Wal-Mart and Meijer are offering are not. You can read more articles about Black Friday Blu-ray offers here and here.

Update 11-20-09: Crave reports that Vizzio is selling one of its blu-ray players for $99.

Target Lures Shoppers With $3 Toasters on Black Friday

CNN reports that some of Target's Black Friday offers include $3 toasters and coffeemakers.
Target is hoping to lure this year's Black Friday shoppers with $3 toasters and coffeemakers, deep deals on high-definition televisions, and discounts of 50% on clothes and toys, according to a Web site that says it has received a leaked copy of the retailer's circular.

Brad Olson, founder of Gottadeal.com, a Web site that markets itself as one of many "official" Black Friday deal sites, said Wednesday that he received a copy of the discount retailer's ad.
The $3 kitchen appliances in Target Black Friday ads are from Chefmate. They include a Chefmate 2-Slice Toaster, Chefmate Slow Cooker, Chefmate 12-Cup Coffeemaker and Chefmate 2-Slice Sandwich Maker. BFads.net has a photo showing the $3 appliances advertised. Another Doorbuster in the Target ads is a Westinghouse 32-inch LCD HDTV for $246 and a TomTom GPS for $97. Target is also offering a free gift card worth $10 if you spend $100 or more at its stores from 5 a.m. to noon on Black Friday.

You can see Target's ads at GottaDeal, BlackFriday.info and other sites carrying Black Friday ads. A chart here has links to several of the Black Friday ad providers.

A Target spokeswoman told CNN they won't confirm the ads. Target spokeswoman Sarah Boehle says Target "is unable to confirm the accuracy of any [Black Friday] two-day ads or pricing information that is posted online."

Black Friday Ads Will Start Leaking in a Couple Weeks

It's time to start thinking about Black Friday. Soon the deals will be leaking and within a few weeks people will start making plans. PC World has an article about Black Friday that says BFAds recently sent out an email that they expect Black Friday ads to began rolling in within a couple weeks.
BFAds, a site that sends subscribers e-mail messages about Black Friday bargains, today fired off its first seasonal mailing. "We expect the ads to start trickling in within the next couple of weeks, and become a daily ordeal come November," wrote BFAds founder and president Michael Brim.
It will be hard for Black Friday ads not to underwhelm, especially when it comes to gadgets. BFAds founder Michael Brim told PC World that there's not a lot of "wiggle room" left on some electronics for retailers to offer huge discounts.
"It's not out of the norm to see a weekly ad with a computer for $400. Let's say Best Buy offers a computer for $300. That's 25 percent off, but when you look at the absolute value, it's only $100 off. People will think, 'It's not that good,'" Brim says. "Unless (retailers) take a huge hit on these loss-leaders, there's just not that much wiggle room anymore."
DealNews.com CEO Dan de Grandpre told PC World that he thinks the deals will be similar to 2008's and that some of the best deals may run ahead of Black Friday.
Dan de Grandpre, CEO of dealnews.com, believe this year's Black Friday deal will be very similar to 2008's. "As with last year, the best time to buy the item you need may not be on Black Friday itself. Instead, it's just as likely to be days or even a week or two before the actual event," he says.
Consumers should consider taking advantage of some deals earlier, such as the Bricktober Lego offers that Toys "R" Us is running in October, and Walmart's ongoing $10 toy offers. Some retailers are stocking less inventory and there will be supply issues with some products, leaving consumers buying late forced to third-party sellers where they will have to pay more if they want the season's hot toy or gadget. There will definitely still be some of the big "door busters" this year - which really need to be renamed after last year's incident - that will bring people into stores on Black Friday, November 27th, 2009.
