Lindsay Lohan Out at Ungaro

Lindsay Lohan is out at Ungaro. When she was a no-show at the Ungaro show in Paris it appeared that it was over for Lindsay and Ungaro. Lindsay's ouster was confirmed when Ungaro owner Asim Abdullah told WWD, "She's not involved in this collection."

Vogue reports that Lindsay has also confirmed her departure from the line. Lindsay, who is in Paris for Fashion Week, says she does not work for Ungaro anymore.
Lohan sat in the front row at Kenzo later in the day and, when asked why she hadn't been at the Ungaro show, stated simply. "Because I don't work for them anymore. There's legal things going on; I can't really discuss it."

Lindsay's Spring 2010 Ungaro collection received lots of bad reviews. You can read our review of Lindsay's first and only collection for Ungaro here. Lindsay Lohan still has her popular leggings line which could expand beyond leggings.

Page Six: Lindsay Lohan's Ungaro Gig in Jeopardy

Page Six reports that the top execs at Ungaro are fighting over whether or not to fire Lindsay Lohan from her post as artistic director at the fashion house. CEO Mounir Moufarrige hired Lindsay and wants to keep her on. But Ungaro's chairman, Asim Abdullah, says it's time for Lindsay to hit the road.
"Asim wants her out now," a fashion insider who has seen e-mails between the two executives tells Page Six. "Department stores in the States have already told him they won't be picking up the line if Lohan remains a collaborator, so it's a serious issue."

The problem, says our source, is that "Mounir wants to keep her on because it was his idea to hire her in the first place. He's trying to save face." The terms of Lohan's multiyear contract were not disclosed, though it is said to be worth seven figures.

Earlier this month, Ungaro himself, who hasn't had any contact with the house that bears his name since leaving in 2005, said of Lohan's debut collection, "I am furious, but I can't do anything about it," adding that the label "is in the process of losing its soul." Reached for comment, a rep for Abdullah said of the rift between the execs, "Such an insinuation is totally absurd."
This may have some truth to it, or it may be a fabrication on the part of this "source." It's certainly true that most of the collection co-designed by Lindsay and Estrella Archs was not well-received. But after the show, several major buyers were quoted as saying they knew they could sell the cocktail dresses easily. The Post says Lindsay has a seven figure deal, but other reports say she's not drawing a salary, but gets free clothes and other perks. At this point it's all rumor and conjecture.
