Meryl Streep and Amy Adams at the Julie and Julia Premiere

Meryl Streep and Amy Adams walk the red carpet in New York City for their new movie, Julie and Julia, in which Meryl plays legendary chef Julia Child. Meryl, Amy and producer Amy Robinson say that they all gained weight during the filming. Meryl said she had to take off 15 pounds after the movie wrapped. The movie, which we can't wait to see, opens in wide release on August 7. Take a look:

Amy Adams Covers Allure Magazine

Photos of Amy Adams

We just love Amy Adams. From Enchanted to Doubt, she always lights up the screen. And we can't wait to see her and Meryl Streep in Julia & Julia. Amy poses for the August issue of Allure magazine and -- not surprisingly -- she looks gorgeous. Here's some of what she had to say:

On being a celebrity: "You see yourself onscreen, or you see pictures of yourself, and it can get really heady...I don't think human beings are supposed to look at themselves that much."

On having to learn how to cook for Julia and Julia: "If it's something you see me do in the film, I learned how to do it. I learned how to poach an egg — which actually is a talent that comes in handy."

On her past experiences with blue eyeshadow: "I was homely. Painfully small, short, with too much blue eye shadow because I thought, It matches my eyes, so why not? Trying desperately to fit in."

On not having set a wedding date to fiance Darren Le Gallo: "I've been really busy, and I feel like a horrible fiancee that I haven't gotten swept up in the whole idea of a wedding. But I just haven't...Once you have a great man in your life, it allows you -- at least for me -- to look at yourself and grow as an individual. If I had known I was going to find this, my early 20s would have been completely different."

Moviegoers Choose Museum Battle Over Robot Apocalypse

Night at the Museum 2

Ben Stiller and Amy Adams in the family fun Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian proved to be too much for the gritty Terminator Salvation. Both movies made a lot of money but in the end more moviegoers chose the family film. Night at the Museum 2 made $70.1 million over the Memorial Day weekend while Terminator Salvation tooks in nearly $52 million. Deadline Hollywood Daily says the box office was a dissapointment for T4.
Even though my box office gurus were confident Museum 2 would wind up #1, T4 "is pretty disappointing as most pundits thought it was going to win the weekend, as did most if not all of the tracking services," a rival studio exec notes. Under and over age 25 males turned out, but the buzz turned rancid among fanboys who overwhelmingly didn't like the pic. (Top critics didn't either: there were only 33% positive reviews at Rotten Tomatoes). Warner Bros expected more, especially because T4 benefitted from worldwide awareness from that Christian Bale audio.
Star Trek had a strong third week and made another $22.8 million. Angels & Demons had a strong second week with $21.7. Angels & Demons also continues to make lots of money overseas. The Wayans brothers' Dance Flick comedy made over $10 million.

Trailer: Julia and Julia

Amy Adams and Meryl Streep were fantastic together in Doubt. Now they are reunited in a much lighter story: Julia and Julia. Julia and Julia is the true story of a blogger who decided to chronicle her adventures as she recreated the recipes from Julia Child's famous cookbook over one year. The film contrasts the two women's life stories. The movie looks marvelous, we can't wait to see it. Take a look:

The Gap in Amy Adams' Resume

Amy Adams

Amy Adams wears a Michael Kors red and navy silk and linen dress in this photograph from a photo shooto and feature for W magazine. In the W interview, Amy Adams revealed that she used to make fake Guess jeans and that she worked at the Gap.

On Making Guess Jeans: "If I didn't get things on clearance, I wasn't getting them," she says. "I would make fake Guess jeans by buying a cheaper brand with a triangle label and then cutting it off so you could still see the triangle outline. It's so sad that I did that! But I really wanted to be one of those girls."

On Working at the Gap: Scoring the job was, she says, "a huge deal, because with the 40-percent-off discount I could finally buy things that weren't on sale!"

Amy Adams also says that "What if I never left the Gap?" is a game she often plays with herself. She says it was a Gap co-worker who encouraged her to try acting: "I had taken an acting class, but I was so dorky, with hair down to there, looking like Little House on the Prairie. I was painfully insecure. But he made me audition for something. I'm sure I was awful, but he planted that idea in me."

You can find the feature here on W and the photo gallery here.

Photo of Amy Adams

Amy Adams, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a young nun in Doubt, made quite an entrance in her vivid red Carolina Herrera gown, which featured a black and red bias cut bustier in silk satin. She accessorized with a fabulous Fred Leighton bib necklace which contained 39 carats of diamonds and 630 carats of sapphires, emeralds and rubies. Now that's what we call a statement necklace. Amy also wore Christian Louboutin heels and carried a satin clutch by VBH.

Isla Fisher Poses for Allure

Isla Fisher poses for Allure Magazine

Isla Fisher shows off her slim post-baby figure in this photo shoot by Norman Jean Roy from the February issue of Allure magazine. Isla's daughter Olive was born last October. Isla Fisher told Allure that she will be getting married to Sacha Baron Cohen soon but that the wedding has been difficult to plan.

"We are going to get married, really, really, even more now than ever," Isla told Allure magazine. "We have been talking about it and we have been very close, but it has been difficult to plan."

Isla also says the wedding will be a private affair when it happens. Isla is starring in Confessions of a Shopaholic - a film we are looking very forward to seeing. You can see a trailer here. The movie will be out February 13th. Isla made a hilarious comment to Allure trying to pin the blame on Amy Adams if Shopaholic isn't a hit: "If Shopaholic is a hit, then it was Isla Fisher in the movie, and if it doesn't work out, it was Amy Adams."

Meryl Streep Has No Doubt

Photo of Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman star in the upcoming drama, Doubt, in which Meryl and Amy play nuns in the 1960s. Hoffman plays a priest who is accused of indiscretions. For the film, Meryl and Amy both were swathed head to toe in a full nun's habit. But Meryl didn't mind at all.
Some actresses might find the prospect of playing a nun -- dressed from head to toe in a black habit -- daunting, but not Meryl Streep, and not because, with her talents, she seems able to do anything.

"I found nuns' habits to be liberating, not only because they are a negation of things that women in the outside world have to contend with, but also because they focus on the true essence of a woman -- her face and her hands," Streep said while discussing her starring role in "Doubt."

*****

Both Streep and Adams met with the real Sister James, a 70-year-old nun after whom Shanley modeled Adams' character both in spirit and in name. "She was fantastic," Adams said. "She was also so thrilled by it. They now call her Sister Hollywood. She was at the premiere and stayed longer than I did." When Streep complimented Adams' performance, the latter dead-panned, "It takes a bitch to play virtue."

Although both actresses recently starred in musicals -- Streep in "Mamma Mia" and Adams in "Enchanted" -- there was no song and dance on the set of "Doubt." "I kept on hoping," Adams said. "But there was no 'Dancing Queen' from Meryl."
A full habit certainly hides a multitude of sins. But it would be terribly hot in the summer. Doubt is in selected theaters nationwide now.
