Video: Andre Leon Talley Debuts On America's Next Top Model
New York Magazine did a great round up of Andre Leon Talley's best moments during his debut as a judge on America's Next Top Model. Andre introduces his new word "dreckitude" and generally completely intimidates the other judges with his fabulosity and knowledge. This show just got so much better. Love it. Take a look:
Paulina Porizkova Fired From America's Next Top Model
Actress and model Paulina Porizkova tells Craig Ferguson she was fired from America's Next Top Model. Paulina says she was told she was fired because they needed to cut costs. Paulina says it was either that or "her gigantic huge ego."
Tyra Banks is ready to get the auditions rolling again despite the chaos at the last auditions for Cycle 13 of the America's Next Top Model reality-tv show. Tyra posted a casting update indicating that she wants to make sure the girls who were not seen because of the New York casting chaos get a chance to audition.
"To all the Top Model hopefuls who were affected by the New York casting, we are doing everything we can to make sure that ALL the girls who weren't seen, get an opportunity to audition - we'll update you on our plans very soon. It is so important to me to redefine beauty, and make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to pursue their dream. I am beyond excited for Cycle 13; for the first time ever, young women 5′7″ and under have a shot at becoming America's Next Top Model! I encourage each girl to come out ready to rock the runway and show off their fiercest pose. I'm rooting for all of you!"
Hopefully, the next auditions will go more smoothly. Presumably, they will post information about new casting call dates in the CW blog when they are available.
Tyra Banks Issues Statement on Next Top Model Chaos
Tyra Banks and executive producer Ken Mok issued a brief statment saying they are concerned about the chaotic incident Saturday when six people were hurt after the large crowd of model wannabes in New York to audition for the show got out of control.
"We are concerned by the events that occurred Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the New York City casting call for the next cycle
of 'America's Next Top Model,'" Banks, who hosts and produces the show, said in a joint statement with executive producer Ken Mok.
"At this time, we still don't know all the details of what happened or what triggered the incident. We appreciate the efforts of the
NYPD and will assist them in any way possible in this matter," the statement said.
It looked pretty clear from the video (see here) that there were way too many people there and and not enough security. There clearly was not enough crowd control for that big of a crowd. The number of people auditioning was extra big this year because Tyra Banks invited models 5'7" and under to audition.
CNN says Saturday's audition was shut down after the incident.
America's Next Top Model fans can rejoice: the CW is creating
a spin-off called Operation Fabulous.
The network has ordered a pilot for "Operation Fabulous," starring "Top Model" regulars Jay Manuel and J. Alexander and executive produced by "Top Model" chiefs Tyra Banks and Ken Mok.
On "Fabulous," "Jay and J," as Manuel and Alexander are called on "Top Model," will travel the country giving women makeovers. In various towns, the duo will select five participants and give them "Top Model"-style overhauls -- how to dress, wear their hair and makeup and bring out their confidence with the support of family, friends and their community.
The project, from Kristina Prods., Mok's 10x10 Entertainment and Banks' Bankable Prods., seeks to capitalize on a fan-favorite "Model" segment, when contestants are given head-to-toe high-fashion makeovers supervised by Alexander.
People do love makeover shows and these two do know how to do a great makeover. But will they be able to deal with women who aren't six feet tall and weigh 120 pounds? That remains to be seen, but we have faith that they will bring their brand of style to the masses. We'll certainly tune in for the premiere.
America's Top Model is about to become a videogame.
Eidos is making an America's Next Top Model video game for Nintendo DS. Available November 7, players will guide one model through various challenges and photo shoots. One model is eliminated every week, and if you make it to the end, you could be America's Next Top Model (on Nintendo DS)! We hope they programmed the digital Tyra Banks to randomly perform nonsensical acts and jibber jabber.
That's a bit harsh. We like Tyra's inspired commands to the models. Now....give us your fiercest, angriest look! But don't move your mouth or your forehead!
