Ah, the power of cheese. Apparently it can reduce the risk of getting Type 2 diabetes.
The Telegraph reports that eating cheese cuts your risk of getting Type 2 diabetes by 12%. Although cheese is high in saturated fat, the scientists believe that the type of fat found in cheese has beneficial effects.
The findings were published in the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. This was one of the
largest studies to examine the role of diet on health. Scientists speculate that something about the fermentation process triggers a reaction that is protective against diabetes and heart disease.
