Starbucks Testing Cold Green Coffee Drinks Called Refreshers in San Diego
Reuters reports that Starbucks is testing green coffee drinks, called Refreshers, at stores in San Diego. The green coffee drinks are made using a flavorless powdered extract from unroasted green coffee. Julie Felss Masino, Starbucks' vice president of global beverage, told Reuters that the drinks are made with fruit and are low in both calories and caffeine. She says, "It's coffee that doesn’t taste like coffee."
The current flavors available are cool lime and very berry habiscus. A 12-ounce lime refreshers has 50 calories and the berry habiscus drink has 70 calories. Prices will range from $2.50 to $2.95.
