Starbucks announced today the return of its popular Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL). Starubcks says 200 million of the beverages have been sold since they were introduced in 2003. This return of pumpkin food items and beverages at cafes is a big marker that fall is near. The PSL features freshly steamed milk, creamy pumpkin flavored sauce, and warm seasonal spices such as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove.
Peter Dukes, director of espresso brand management at Starbucks and a co-creator of PSL, said in a release, "It's been great to see the trajectory over the past decade, because when we launched PSL ten years ago - yes it has a nickname now - we took a bit of a risk on a new innovation. You just didn't see pumpkin-flavored food and beverages ten years ago the way you do today."
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the beverage, Starbucks is offering 50% off the price of the PSL 10 tumbler with the purchase of any Pumpkin Spice Latte.
