Target has admitted that some of its gift card were not fully activated. Target told Bloomberg
by email that the activation problem involves under 0.1% of gift cards sold over the holidays.
Molly Snyder, a spokeswoman for Target, told Bloomberg
, "We are aware that some Target gift cards were not fully activated and apologize for the inconvenience."
The gift card issue is not related to the credit card breach, which has customers that shopped in Target stores during the Nov. 27 to Dec. 15 period closely monitoring debit and credit cards. Banks are also monitoring activity to quickly spot compromised cards. Target did recently reveal some good news in that hackers lack the key
needed to decrypt stolen PIN data.
