SNL Skit: Mayor Bloomberg Discusses the Occupy Wall Street
The cold open for Saturday Night Live last night featured Fred Armisen doing his Mayor Michael Bloomberg impersonation. The New York City mayor discussed the Occupy Wall Street movement in his own special way. First off, he wanted to reiterate that the movement started in New York and proves,
"once again that New York
sets the trends and the rest
of the world follows."
He then pitches tourists to
come to New York to
see the protests and
take in a show.
He also
addressed his failed
plan to power wash
the park where the
protesters are staying.
He says that power washing
is an integral part of New York
City's operations -- without
it New York would lose its
reputation as the world's
cleanest and most sanitized city.
Bloomberg reminded protests that he's
"not really that rich" and helpfully
provided the addresses of billionaires
who have more money than he does. He told protesters that protesting is fine. But if one person lights up a cigarette, the "batons are coming out and the badges are coming off." It's pretty funny. Take a look:
