In this skit the singing duo of Caleb (Martin Short) and Monty (Paul McCartney)
are auditioning for the community Christmas pageant. Caleb is bossy and
overbearing and lights into poor Monty for not playing the triangle at the
right moment. Monty longs to sing, but never gets the chance until
Caleb stalks off in a huff. At that point Monty does get his chance to sing.
He takes off the goofy green vest, puts down the triangle, picks up his guitar
and turns into
Paul McCartney. He sings "Wonderful Christmas Time" with an assist from
the children's chorus. Take a look:
