SNL Digital Short: Lonely Island's YOLO Featuring Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar

Posted on January 28, 2013

Lonely Island returned to Saturday Night Live with a new digital short. Andy Samberg, host Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar star in the video which is called YOLO or You Only Live Once.

The video is about the younger generation and how they embrace the YOLO philosophy, only with a twist. Instead of extolling the virtues of seizing the day and trying new experiences, the song exhorts young people to play it really safe because you could die at any moment. Life really is just too dangerous to take chances.

Samberg explains that YOLO is "The battle cry of a generation. This life is a precious gift, so don't get too crazy, it's not worth the risk." The song is full of warnings such as, "Never go to saunas cause they're crawling with piranhas/ And never take the stairs cause they're often unsafe/ You only live once so don't let it go to waste." Lamar has some excellent financial advice rapping, "Take no chances, stop freelancin', invest in your future don't dilute your finances/401K make sure it's low risk and then get some real estate."

It's pretty funny, take a look:
