Saturday Night Live dissected the Carnival cruise ship fiasco in the cold open. The disheveled, yet still perky cruise directors (Jason Sudeikis and Cecily Strong), attempt to entertain the filthy and miserable passengers. They bring out the ship's depressed comedian (Jay Pharoah), Dan the Animal Man (Bobby Moynihan) and the ship's magician (Bill Hader), who hypnotized a passenger into thinking he was a chicken. When the compulsion was lifted the passenger demanded to be turned back into a chicken, because it was more pleasant than being a passenger on the cruise ship. Funniest bit: when the cruise director decides to read some uplifting headlines from a newspaper a helicopter dropped to him. Unfortunately, all the headlines for the week were just awful: from Oscar Pistorius being accused of murdering his girlfriend to the meteor hit in Russia, it really was an awful week. Take a look:
