Smithsonian's Cheetah Cubs to be Named After U.S. Olympic Sprinters

Smithsonian Zoo Cheetah Cubs


Smithsonian's National Zoo is introducing the cubs to their yard at its Cheetah Conservation Station, giving them outdoor space to run and play. In partnership with USA Track & Field, the Zoo will be naming the cubs - a male and a female - after the fastest American male and fastest American female athletes in the Olympics 100-meter dash. The possible names for the female cub are Carmelita, Tianna and Allyson. The possible names for the male cub are Justin, Tyson and Ryan. The cubs were born April 23 at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Va. Take a look:
