Dip Season is upon us with all the award shows and the Super Bowl on February 2nd. But those that love their Velveeta processed cheese food dip made with Ro-Tel are starting to get very worried. Advertising Age reports
that there may be a severe Kraft Velveeta shortage looming.
So what in the world is Ad Age doing tracking down shortages of processed cheese food? Apparently they got reports that many stores on the East Coast were out of Velveeta, so they called Kraft to find out what was going on. The answer Kraft gave was both mysterious and alarming. Spokesperson Jody Moore told Advertising Age, "Given the incredible popularity of Velveeta this time of year, it is possible consumers may not be able to find their favorite product on store shelves over the next couple of weeks. Our retail customers are aware of the situation and we expect it to be a short-term issue."
But that's not what grocery store owners said. They say there is a problem with a Kraft plant and there will be no more shipments until February at the earliest. When pressed, Ms. Moore conceded, "I can tell you there is a combination of factors involved, but the driver is really the high demand." Ah - ha! We knew there was more to it than "high demand." Clearly there is some kind of processed cheese food coverup in the works.

needs to get on this. This could go a long way to boosting the show's credibility after all the recent reporting gaffes. This is a story that strikes fear into the hearts of Southern Super Bowl party hostesses everywhere.
