Power Goes Out at Superdome, Twitter Blames Beyonce's Fierce Halftime Show
Early in the third quarter, power went out to half the Superdome.
The Baltimore Ravens were leading the San Francisco 49ers 28-6 when the power went out just after Jacoby Jones scored a 109 yard touchdown on the return, breaking an NFL record. The teams remained on the field, with players doing warm ups to stay loose.
Power is now back on. Twitter erupted with theories about what
caused the power outage. The most popular theory is that Beyonce's
fierce halftime performance used up all the power in the stadium.
The more mundane explanation is that there was a power surge which
blew out half the lights. The system required a reboot, which took
around 20 minutes. The AP reports:
