Nestle is bringing Switzerland's oldest chocolate brand to the United States for the first time. The chocolate will also be sold in the UK, Germany and China.

Reuters reports that this is Nestle's first entry into the global super-premium chocolate segment. Cailler chocolate was first created in 1819 by M. Francois-Louis Cailler. Nestle's says Cailler's son-in-law then invented the world's first milk chocolate.

Sandra Martinez, head of the Confectionery Strategic Business Unit at Nestle, says in the announcement, "For the past 200 years our Cailler chocolates have been made in Switzerland. Cailler is part of our heritage. Each year more than 400,000 people come to Broc to taste our chocolate. Now chocolate lovers in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and soon in China, can discover uniquely creamy and beautiful Cailler Swiss chocolate right in their homes."

Cailler uses in-house roasted hazelnuts and almonds. It uses milk collected within 20 miles of the Maison Cailler in Broc, Switzerland. The Cailler chocolate boxes feature hand-designed artwork by paper-cut artist, Marianne Dubuis. The chocolate is sold in 16 and 25 piece boxes. There are also eight Cailler bar varieties including thin chocolate bars called L'Ecorce Bar and the Art du Brut bars, which feature chocolate, freshly roasted nuts and tangy fruit.

Nestle will be using Amazon to offer the premium chocolate in the United States once it is available for purchase.
