Microsoft Lowers Xbox One Price and Introduces Holiday Bundles

Posted on October 28, 2014

Microsoft announced it will temporarily lower the price of the Xbox one console to $349 for the holiday. This is a $50 reduction. The price reduction begins on November 2nd. A price drop was anticipated given that the console is not brand new this year. Microsoft has also introduced some new bundles for the holiday shopping season.

Microsoft also introduced three new holiday bundles. They include the Xbox One Assasin's Creed Bundle, the Xbox One Special Edition Sunset Overdrive Bundle, and the Xbox One Limited Edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Bundle.

Microsoft thinks Sunset Overdrive has franchise potential. The bundle, which costs $349, includes a white console, wireless controller, a digital copy of the game and Day One edition in-game items. The new Call of Duty bundle costs $449. It features a custom Xbox One console with a 1TB hard drive and limited edition exoskeleton.

The Xbox One Assassin's Creed Bundle is pictured below. It will cost $349 without Kinect and $449 with Kinect. It includes a black console and the Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag games. The Kinect version also includes Dance Central Spotlight which probably is not of much interest to Assassin's Creed gamers.

Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi and Phil Spencer, head of Xbox at Microsoft, made the announcement. Mehdi says he is a huge Halo fan. Spencer mentions several Xbox games he likes including Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Killer Instinct Season 2 and Project Spark. Take a look:
