McAfee Says Emma Watson is 2012's Most Dangerous Cyber Celebrity

Emma Watson has replaced Heidi Klum as McAfee's most dangerous celebrity to search for online. McAfee warns that searching for photographs of popular celebrities can take you to risky sites that might install malware on your computer. McAfee says cybercriminals often use the names of popular celebrities to lure people to sites that are laden with malicious software that are designed to steal passwords and personal information. The McAfee 2012 Most Dangerous Celebrities study found that women are more dangerous than men with Jessica Biel taking the number two spot and Eva Mendes coming in third. Jimmy Kimmel is the only male to make the top 20 list this year.

McAfee research found that searching for the latest Emma Watson pictures and downloads yields a greater than 12.6% chance of landing on a website that has tested positive for malware and spyware. McAfee says free downloads are significantly the highest virus-prone search terms. Here is the list of the top ten most dangerous celebrities to search for online:
  • Emma Watson
  • Jessica Biel
  • Eva Mendes
  • Selena Gomez
  • Halle Berry
  • Megan Fox
  • Shakira
  • Cameron Diaz
  • Salma Hayek
  • Sofia Vergara
