LG Unveils New G3 Smartphone
LG unveiled its LG G3 smartphone in launch events held in six major cities around the world. The new phone is a successor to the LG G2. It features a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 538ppi or 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution. The G3 contains a 13-megapixel camera with a technology called Laser Auto Focus that helps users take sharper photographs by using a laser beam to measure the distance between the phone and the subject. The phone also has a 2.1-megapixel front camera. The G3 has a fingerprint-proof metallic skin and a "floating arc" design. LG says this design makes the phone feel comfortable to hold in one despite its larger size. For sound, the phone has a built-in 1W speaker with Boost AMP. It has a "Smart Keyboard" that LG says cuts mistakes by 75% by tracking and analyzing your typing habits.
An interesting security feature is the "Knock Code," which lets users unlock their device through a pattern of taps on the screen. The phone also features a kill switch the enables users to remotely disable and wipe content from their phone in the event it is stolen.
Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics, says in a statement, "The smartest innovation in a fast evolving smartphone market is creating harmony between advanced technology and a simplified user experience. LG G3 is the result of our effort to actualize that idea into a tangible product. And we are extremely pleased with the result."
The G3 will arrive in the U.S and Europe next month. PC World compares the G3 to the Samsung Galaxy S5 here. Take a look:
