J.C. Penney stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. The Dallas Morning News reports
that J.C. Penney stores will be opening at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. This is the same time that Macy's recently confirmed
it will open its doors to holiday shoppers. The move by the two retailers completes the push of the holiday shopping season and Black Friday deal period into Thanksgiving. The other big box retailers already made the move into Thanksgiving Day last year. The only respect most retailers are showing for the U.S. holiday is they are waiting until Thanksgiving dinner is over.
J.C. Penney spokeswoman Daphne Avila told the Dallas News
, "Last year, we opened much later than the competition and our stores saw a lot of frustrated customers tap our doors wanting to shop. This year, we decided we weren't going to let those opportunities pass us by."
J.C. Penney also confirmed
earlier this week that its free Disney snow globe deal will return in 2013. Last year, the retailer gave out buttons linked to prizes. The Disney snow globe deal will not get pushed back into Thanksgiving. The Dallas News
says J.C. Penney will hand those out at 4 a.m. on Black Friday.
