Gas Prices Soar in February

Gas prices are over 45 cents higher than they were a month ago. The AAA's Fuel Gauge Report shows the nationwide average gas price is $3.781 for a gallon of regular. That is about 46 cents higher than it was at this time last month. It is also about 15 cents higher than this time last year. Gas prices are 50 cents higher than they were in January. There is concern gas prices will continue to rise as we move into the summer driving season. Rising demand for gas in the U.S., refinery outages and a conversion to the summer gas blends are some of the reasons being given for the pain at the pump. What we really need are some reasons for gas to fall below $3 a gallon. That hasn't happened since early 2011 according to GasBuddy.com's historical price chart. Take a look:
