Ming Dynasty chicken cup

A rare Meiyintang chicken cup sold for a record $36 million at a Sotheby's auction. This made it the most expensive Chinese porcelain piece ever sold at an auction. The 500-year-old cup from the Ming Dynasty was purchased by collector Liu Yiqian. The small cup features a scene of a red rooster and golden hen with their chicks in a garden. It has a diameter of 3.1 inches.

The Wall Street Journal interviewed Liu Yiqian, the buyer, who is one of the richest men in China. He says he "bought it only because I like it."
