Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga are the new faces of the MAC AIDS Fund. WWDreports that a new campaign will begin late next February called "From Our Lips." Aflac and Macy's are selling an annual plush Holiday Duck to fight pediatric cancer. This year's Aflac duck is dressed as a green holiday tree with ornaments and a golden star that lights up. The plush duck says "Aflaaac" when squeezed. The ducks go on sale on Sunday, November 1st at participating Macy's and at aflacholidayduck.com.
The prices are unchanged from last year at $10 for the 6-inch duck and $15 for the 10-inch version. 100 percent of the proceeds go to the nearest of 37 participating pediatric cancer hospitals in the region where it is sold. Since its initial appearance in 2001, the Aflac Holiday Duck has raised more than $2.2 million for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
"Aflac understands that many families who routinely make charity a part of their holiday traditions are struggling this year," Aflac's Manager of Cause and Marketing Philanthropy, Buffy Swinehart, said. "The Aflac Duck, which is always there in times of need, offers fans with tight budgets a chance to give back in a meaningful way."
Actor/director Ed Norton (Fight Club, The Hulk) teamed up with Maasai warriors to train in Kenya for the New York Marathon this Sunday.
Ed is running the marathon to raise funds for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation.
Building a team of thirty runners, finding individual and corporate sponsors, and putting in serious training time to be able to finish the 26.2 mile race, Ed says it was like preparing for an intense acting job, only much harder. At one point he didn't think he'd be in good enough shape to run 26 miles. But now he feels confident he can go the distance. Take a look:
Madonna returned to Malawi with her daughters Lourdes and Mercy and her little boy David. Madonna was in Malawi for a ground breaking ceremony for her new school there, Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, and to plant a good luck Moringa tree. Madonna said, "If this school is a success - with God willing it will be - we will replicate it not only in Malawi, but in other parts of the world as well." Be sure to check out her fabulous -- and wildly inappropriate for tree planting -- shoes.Take a look:
Madonna posted this statement just before she left for Malawi:
My family and I are on our way to Malawi to attend the ground breaking ceremony for Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. The ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. on the future site of the Academy.
Our vision for the school is to empower girls to become Malawi's future leaders. Our goal is to teach them to challenge themselves, serve their local communities and develop their country. We created this vision in partnership with the local Malawian Ministry of Education, and other educational experts from Malawi, Sub-Sharan African and elsewhere around the world.
We are developing and using innovative educational approaches, cutting-edge architectural design methods, and other modern technologies, which we hope, will become a replicable model for girls secondary school education.
Research proves that young girls throughout the developing world are often left without opportunities to receive a comprehensive education and the benefits that education can provide.
It's an honor for me to be able to help as many of these girls as I can achieve their dreams.
I'm also incredibly proud of all the projects Raising Malawi is involved in and I look forward to visiting a number of them during my visit.
Charlize Theron was helping with the charitable auction for organization OneXone Thursday night in San Francisco. When the bidding lagged at $47,000, Charlize decided to raise the stakes, offering a 7 second kiss. She told the crowd that this was high-risk kissing, since the swine flu virus is going around. A man in the audience jumped the bid to $137,000, but a woman outbid him. She paid $140,000 and got her money's worth: Charlize kissed her for a full twenty seconds. The winner also got a 2010 South Africa trip - complete with World Cup tickets, a safari trip and a chance to meet Nelson Mandela.

As of this writing, the only shirt we could find online after scrolling around for a while was the Heidi Klum one. The shirts can also be found at Marc Jacobs' stores. The shirts costs $35. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will benefit NYU Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Madonna has donated this pair of Christian Dior skyscraper heels to the Ovidiu Rom charity organization. Madonna donated the autographed shoes to be auctioned off at the Ovidiu Rom annual ball later this month. Ovidiu Rom is a charity that supports education for Gyspy children.
Madonna was booed in Bucharest in August during a concert when she spoke out against widespread discrimination against East Europe's Gypsies. The crowd was unsympathetic, reflecting the local views. Actor Ethan Hawke's mother, Leslie Hawke, is the President and co-founder of Ovidiu Rom. Leslie left behind a successful corporate career to join the Peace Corps at the age of 48. She became interested in the plight of gypsy children who begged for a living and didn't go to school.
