Hollywood-Inspired Prom Dresses Hot for 2005

Posted on February 13, 2005

As designers begin to ship their collections of 2005 prom dresses to stores around the nation, the unofficial start of the prom season begins. The question on almost every teenage girl's mind is, "What's hot for 2005?" Prom dresses that reflect the sophistication and style of Hollywood's most popular female celebrities will be gracing the shapes of prom goers across the country and around the world this year.

Elia Rubinstein, owner of the Magic Moments dress salon in New York, said, "This year's silhouette is generally a bit more fitted than in the past. The hottest new trend for 2005 prom dresses is that designers are copying the celebrities in Hollywood."

There are many designer prom dresses available this year. Jovani is offering gowns similar to the one Kate Hudson wore in the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (see below). Terani shows off a 1940s-style Marilyn Monroe-inspired creation reminiscent of the one she wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Dresses inspired by Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman top the list of popular prom dresses.

That's good news for the girls who find shopping for the prom dress as fun as the prom itself. A Seventeen Magazine recently ran an online survey of 25,000+ participants who voted on what they consider to be the most exciting part of the prom. Shopping for prom dresses was by far the winner with a considerable 42% of the votes.
