Coach Launches Bonnie Cashin Collection

Posted on April 5, 2009

Coach has launched a Spring collection of handbags and accessories inspired by legendary fashion designer Bonnie Cashin. Cashin became the founding designer for Coach in 1962. She also designed costumes for over sixty movies.

Coach's president and executive creative director Reed Krakoff told Fashion Week Daily, "Bonnie Cashin left an indelible imprint on fashion during her time with Coach. With the Bonnie collection, I wanted to fuse some of her archived vintage designs with our well-known modern aesthetic. The result is a playful reinterpretation of her iconic imagery and unparalleled talent for our latest spring collection."

There's a biography of Bonnie Cashin on Wikipedia.

A recent New York Times story discusses a rights battle over Cashin. She designed for a number of major fashion labels and had her own label.

There is also a book about the designer called Bonnie Cashin: Chic Is Where You Find It. It is written by Stephanie Lake with a forward by Jonathan Adler.
